I hope you get this girl, she looks like she was born to be yours!
As far as books go, you guys, "Merle's door" by Ted Karasote is the best dog book EVER. A must read.
I am not trying to highjack this thread so I will end this by saying thank you for mailing that KaCee. I will pm you as soon as I get it 🙂

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Loved Merle's Door!!! Just don't read it on an airplane or any other public place and keep the tissues handy....
Any new news on sweetie-pie Lucille????

Thanks for the tissue forewarning……They tend to think you are a loon and call security when you are sitting in a chair all alone and teary eyed. LOL
Haven't heard anything yet…I sent over the paperwork and I know they would rather adopt out to their own area – but I am keeping my fingers crossed they have a soft heart for Rileys story and the pix I sent them……It looks like her sister was adopted out yesterday but Lucille and the 2 males are still there…..Aren't they cute....
More like sobbing!!!
Oooooh, sweeties!!!! They look so much like little baby Rileys. We still have our paws crossed for you, KaCee!!! I know one of those babies would find a loving, happy furever home and family with you.

WAY rude! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......
They don't know a GREAT thing when they see it. I don't get how some rescues operate, they make it harder than it should be for good people to adopt a dog. Our doctor, a great guy with 2 kids, wife, the works, got turned down by a rescue once. We were stunned.
I'm sorry!

That is totally rude. They don't know a good thing when they see it. I think in an effort to screen out the bad pawrents, they set super-strict criteria that doesn't allow for a case-by-case basis for approval. Unfortunately this rules a lot of great pawrents out...
I'm so, so sorry! But I firmly believe that when the right puppy comes along, everything will fall into place, and it will be the perfect puppy for you and your family!

Oh, that is so rude. That is defnitely a not so nice lady!
But I agree with Micki... when the right one comes along it will all fall into place.
We didn't end up getting the puppy I had originally wanted and instead we got Abby. Fate obviously had something different in mind, and we ended up with an extra special baby.
Hang in there,
Jackie
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Had the not so nice lady said "I appreciate your interest but we would prefer to adopt out our pets within our local area" I would have understood...but I didn't think her response was necessary. I soooo dislike rude people....and mean ones too for that matter.
Shari is is cracking me up - she is sending me pix of puppies on facebook with widows peaks!!! I am totally laughing so its helping to get me out of my slump...(Riley was partly Rhodesian Ridgeback and there are not alot out there).
Meghan - if you decide to get another dog at some point, I can tell you where not to go!!! I sooo appreciate you saying earlier you would go there and what could you do to help. If you were closer you probably would have been there!
What Micki and Jackie are saying is so true - The right puppy will come along - I just have to have patience...(have I evern mentioned patience is not one of my stronger points???) LOL
PS.....You are all so wonderful.....thanks for being so supportive.
KaCee,
I am going to tell you about the Devore shelter in California. It comes with a BIG warning, they put dogs to sleep after 4 days. The way to find out about which dog has it's time up is through Petconnect.us on facebook or through their website.
I got connected with Petconnect.us by accident, and recently tried to save a dogs life there, but it was too late. My warning is, DON'T GO ON THE WEBSITE unless you are ready to foster or adopt. It is heartbreaking! The shelter has a horrible reputation and the dogs are in desperate need, every day, puppies to old dogs are put down. The good news on them is, if you see a dog you want, someone will try and get there and "pull" them for you, and arrange a pick up with you.
The bad news is, you will see dogs who have 10 minutes left, 15 minutes left, and then the curtain falls.
So, maybe your pup is there, maybe you can help one, foster one, save one. Just don't even go on the site unless you are sure. I had to get off it because it was breaking my heart and I was too far away to qualify for fostering.
