Next week I am going to try accupuncture treatments for Samson to see if it helps with his arthritis. The vet recommended trying 4 treatments about a week apart. How long is it before we can tell if its helping and if it does help, how often do they need to go back in? I know it probably varies dog to dog (or in this case Monkeydog to Monkeydog) Just looking for some feedback for those of you that have tried this. Thanks!

we swear by the needles!!! at first we went weekly for a couple of weeks, then every two and now we try to get there every three weeks. for gayle, this really helps with her spine and hips, and with immunity as well. being a right/front amputee, she has a decided twist when she moves... when jane was still with us, she had arthritis in her spine and hips...the acupuncture really helped her, especially with the addition of electrical stimulation. you may not see results in the first session, but we did with jane. definitely give it the full four sessions to give it a fair shot.
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Lots have tried it and really see benefits. (I haven't) My vet who isn't holistic at all said that their are sciencific good results and recommends it.
We sure hope Samson gets good results!

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Isabelle currently gets acupuncture every week. When she first started a year and a half ago for her arthritis, she was in a lot of pain & barely walking. Then she got it twice a week for a few weeks. Post amp, she also had it twice a week for a while. There was (& still is ) an immediate result…this seems to be the experience of most clients at our rehab facility….it's getting it to last, especially at the beginning that can be a challenge. Electrical stimulation does help it last longer, but sometimes when her back is really painful, it can aggravate it in the short run. We still use it though. Isabelle usually feels better before the needles are even out.
If you have access to a chiropractor, it's really helpful to get an adjustment just after acupuncture every few weeks. It's much easier to get a proper adjustment at that time. Being in alignment can make an enormous difference in mobility and the efficacy of the acupuncture treatment.
Good luck
P.S. to Daisy: Monkeycat also gets acupuncture for his bad behavior…he is a mellow boy for at least a week….
Good question, with great timing! Check out our most recent Tripawd Health video:
