Some of you know the story of Nitro, others may be new to us "old-timer's…..earlier this week, June 17th, was Nitro's ampuversary; sadly, it was also the day a close friend and co-worker of 30 years was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident. The next day, just hours after learning of his death, a female cardinal flew into our yard, and perched on the same plant a female cardinal (the same bird?) sat on the afternoon Nitro went to the Bridge. I've heard cardinals singing, but have never seen one in my yard since the day Nitro left us. Seeing this little creature sent goosebumps down my arms, and gave me peace, knowing my Warrior was letting me know my friend was up there with him.

Rest in peace Bob, you will be missed!

the cardinal that showed up the day Nitro left us

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Wow Paula!  Include me in on the "goosebumps pawty" head to toe and back again.

Not do be dismissed as just  a "coincidence" !  You know that already though.   The things that the Spirit energy of our loved ones can produce is a magic we hoomans cannot phantom with our limited brains.

I am so very sorry about Bob. To be so unexpected  and in such a tragic way  adds another layer to the shock and grief.  Not that it helps st all, not at all, but he was doing what he loved.

I DO hope you find comfort in the very special Cardinal Soul who came by...on that day...on that shrub❤

Lots of love and peace to you dear friend

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Wooooaaaaaah. Thank you so so much for sharing this with us Paula. What a story, and so beautiful.

I'm really sorry about Bob, my condolences to you and everyone who knew and loved him. I'm also certain that this was a sign from Nitro, looking out for all the cool dudes when they get to the pearly gates and letting the earthbound people like us know that everything's alright. What a gift from the coolest dog ever.

For anyone new, be sure to check out Nitro's blog for a look at an amazing Tripawd life well lived.

Paula, what a beautiful story! Just yesterday I received a package from Sally. It was a cardinal dish. And in the card she wrote, whenever you see a cardinal it's suppose to be a loved one sroppping by to say hello. I am so happy Nitro stopped by to see you!

I am really sorry about your friend. No loss is ever easy.

.

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

It is really kinda funny when out of nowhere we feel that tap on the shoulder. I think your Cardinal was Nitro's way of saying 'yes mama, that WAS me' sp_hearticon2

So very sorry to hear about your friend.
