I want to say a million thankyous and big big hugs to Brett and Pattie. I got a box yesterday afternoon and inside was the harness worn by our treasured friend Fortis. Sammy smelled and smelled the box and it's content, and then seemed to smile extra wide as if the smells were a part of the gift.
I held onto the harness for a little while, my heart trembled a little and I got teary eyed because I know that love between Fortis and his family and all of their adventures has touched it, so it feels blessed to me.
Also, there was a generosity not just in sharing with Sammy and I the gift of something that was once Fortis's, but it was complete and I didn't expect that. It was supposed to have been the front part of the harness, but Brett and Pattie went above and beyond and gave us the whole harness. That made me cry too. Thank you so very much Brett, I am sitting down today to write you guys a letter, but I wanted you to see these pictures and know that Sammy and I got the package yesterday so you didn't worry that it was lost.
Plus, I wanted to tell the world how lucky we are to have friends like you.
I put the harness on Sammy and took pictures before it was adjusted, I was trying to catch the light of the day. I have fiddled with it since then so it is fitting better now. The size difference between Fortis and Sammy is like big brother little brother. Sammy has big shoes to fill
Hugs across the miles,

Love Never Ends
Talk about bring a tear to my eyes....
That is a beautiful tribute, and I'm sure Fortis is smiling from the Rainbow as he watches Sammy in his harness. Fortis did indeed have a wonderful, loving family that just keeps on giving.

I'm trying to NOT cry, darnit! But that is just so sweet!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Awesome! Indi just gave her harness to Tripawd Dakota 🙂 As the pawarent of a spirit tripawd, I can say it is fullfilling and heart warming to pass on gear and gifts and love, love love.
Raina and Spirit Indi
Indi the Saint Bernard mix had her front left leg amputated on August 31, 2010. She crossed over the rainbow bridge on December 17, 2010, because of a spinal injury, not related to cancer.
This just brings tears to my eyes - how incredibly special and generous of Brett and Pattie. You've got that right Elizabeth, we are so lucky to have friends like this and what this community has given to all of us. Just wonderful.
Kami, Angel M and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
How generous of Brett and Patty! Sammy looks very happy in his new harness.
We recieved Comet's harness last week. My heart skipped a beat to see all of comets soft fur covering the lining and it brought a tear to my eye. Dante was slightly confused by the harness, it smelled like a dog, but did not look like a dog - so he had to bark at it a few times to see if it would run away! (He also did this to his stocking at Christmas!) Once we put it on and he realized it was just a harness, he was super excited. I am hoping to post pictures very soon - we managed to get it on him and adjusted, but the poor booger knows it means a walk is in the works, and the weather has been AWFUL here - so I haven't wanted to put it on him again until we can actually leave the house in it!
The generosity and kindness of everyone on this site amazes me on a daily basis - tripawds and their pawrents really are a special breed!
I know Brett has already posted to this but I wanted to say thank you for your kind words. Along with some of the others, I must say I could not hold back the tears reading your post. I have to confess it was hard to part with anything of Fortis' but when I thought of another pup benefiting from something of his it made me happy to think we could help out others in Foris' honor. He would be so happy to share and I know he is giving a big high five from up above to Sammy, Cooper and Patou!
Sammy is one handsome boy and I really enjoyed seeing the pictures you posted. All the best to you guys!
This special community is so full of love and kindness and what a blessing it has been to us.
Big Hug To All!
Pattie
Pattie,
Today is the first day in weeks that it looks like the weather will break. I have made a "bucket list" for Sammy and I and today I hope to check off one of the items on the list. Sammy will be in the harness and on his way down to the beach a little later on today. Hopefully I can get pictures!
Thank you so much for making this possible. Our old harness was too small and torn, so I was always worried it was going to give at the worst possible time. My husband Warren is always on the move, so most of Sammy's events are with me alone. It gives me great relief and a little courage to know that I can for sure handle getting Sammy in and out of the vehicle by myself. You have given us great blessings :0) Thank you!
