Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for I should lick your hand between blows. Your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do. Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.
When it is cold and wet, please, do take me inside, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements, and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you if it were dry. I can't tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life.
And, master, when I am very old or if the Great Master sees fit to deprive me of my health, do not turn me away from you. Rather, take my trusting life gently, and I shall leave you, knowing with the last breath I draw, my fate was always safest in you hands.
Amen.
This prayer is something I have had for many many years and just came across it today, I thought Tasha and I would share it with you.
Tasha 8 years old, First cancer diagnosis 6/26/09, Last cancer diagnosis 9/26/09, Amputation 10/01/09, Loving our girl moment by moment.
Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….
That was quite a beautiful prayer, I am really glad you and Tasha decided to share it with us!!! Amen for sure!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
While I had seen this in the past, the beauty really hit home for me today. A dear friend had to let her 16 year old pittie go yesterday. Although she had a wonderful likfe with my friend (Katy was adopted at approximately 9 months), arthritis had wrecked havoc with her joints for the last several years. Jen stood by her side and fought the pain with her and they won for a very long time. I know it was time for Katy to rest, but I can't make the tears stop.
Thank you for having perfect timing….all things happen for a reason.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Thanks for sharing such a beautiful prayer...the words are so meaningful...I think about how much love we have for our tripawds on this website and shudder to think that there are many 4 legged dogs out there who aren't nearly as lucky. Breaks my heart. Reading this just confirms the depth of love we all feel for our tripawds and our 4 legged dogs too. Amen!
Kami (Mackenzie & Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Amen indeed. Thanks for sharing!
