This isn't Tripawd specific, but I think most of us here have plenty of experience with cancer. The story doesn't really say a whole lot, but it's interesting that so many Golden Retrievers get this piece of crap disease. I'm glad research is being done to try to figure out why. Hopefully they can find something and a way to combat it.
David and Rocky (and Baxter now too!)
Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.
He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.
Thanks for sharing this David. Yep, it's a great study and one of the reasons we support the Morris Animal Foundation that started it. Here is a link to learn more about the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.

Just came across this article today which details Why the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study Matters..
“This study provides an important base for establishing new paradigms in treatment, helping us to support or deny long-held casual assumptions in such areas as early spay/neuter, obesity, exercise and dental hygiene on cancer development as well as other non-cancer health outcomes.” -- Dr. Rod Page, Principal Investigator on the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study, and Director of the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University.

We have had three Goldens. The first lived to age 16. The second died of hemangiosarcoma at age 12. The third, Gus, had a nerve sheath tumor which fortunately was totally operable. He died of a heart attack at age 13. I guess we pretty well matched the study.
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
