Jasper and I have returned from our mini vacation to our (my) favorite place on earth - Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast. The weather may not be typical beach weather (as in swimmies and laying out) but it was PERFECT to us! Mixture of marine layers, clouds, sunshine, never too hot and never cold ... it was quiet, zen and did I say ... perfect?!? I wish, wish, wish I was at the point in my life where I could quit my job and move there and live out my remaining years with my dog... Dogs are the best and for the most part - people suck (present company excluded, of course). So here is what I think of most people in the world... they are all !!! So I love this, Admin!!!
Mostly I took photos of nature but here is one of Jasper on the beach at sunset ...
Oh and this one ... too funny NOT to share. So my mom's cabin has a sun room that overlooks the beach. It has a ledge on the window and a long table in front with shells and stuff. Well, Jasper clearly thinks she's part cat as she deftly jumped up, avoided the shells and made herself comfy to watch the tide roll in. She did this most of the week and it was hilarious to us! Oh Jasper Lily.... you are a silly little dog!
I'm still trying to catch up on the posts but I'll be back to full support gal soon! Hugs and love ... we missed you!
Oh and my sweet Shelby ... she was with us the whole time !!! She sent me lots of pretty special shells (sand dollars, etc) on the beach! I felt her with me as I wandered the beach and breathed in the fresh and clean air!
Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
I love her looking out the window, sitting on the table. What a beautiful view!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
WELCOME HOME!!! WE MISSED YOU!! Soooo glad you had such a splendid time! What a beautiful, beautiful Zen sanctuary!
Alson...the pictures.....can't even find enoigh SPECTACULAR adjectives to describe how breathtakingly beautiful they are!'' And to know Jasper Lily appreciates nature's beauty equally as much as we do.
I'll have to remember the book, but it was a study of animals resulting in proof positive that they enjoyed the beauty of nature.. One particular bear they "studied" headed off for a particular clearing as the sun was setting. Each evening she sat there staring at the magnificent sunsets. The arrogance of. humans to think a "scientific"'study has to be conducted to determine if "other"' species can "enjoy" these types of things. I submit this picture of Jasper Lily.....case closed!
