As Eddy's 2nd Angelversary approaches, I decided to check in with Tripawds.   It is so hard to believe it's been 2 years already.  Life has been chaotic and busy for us.  We are in the process of sending Eddy's "boy", our youngest off to college in seven months. It is crazy how fast time goes by....   As I opened FaceBook this morning, I was greeted with FaceBook memories of Eddy's last day.  Crazy how I can cry still looking at his pictures.  I really thought my heart would be healed by now.  But I truly think there is something special and unique about losing a tripawd.  The journey is like no other.  The bond we develop with our tripawd babies is one that even death cannot separate.  The bond is truly like no other.

I just wanted to reach out tonight and thank all of you who were there for me in some of my darkest days.  I really don't know what I would have done without the love and support from the Tripawds group.   Thank you to Jim and Rene for forming this group.   You guys really are the BEST!

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy.  Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy,  a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered.  Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday.   Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.

I was told that when I started this journey and my journey ended I have shared it with others.  We just don't realize what it is until they are gone.  Thinking of you on Eddy's 2nd Angelversary.

BETSY!!! So good to hear from you!!! I think of you often ... every time I look at the picture frame you got for me and I have a great photo of Shelby at the beach. Two years is a long and short time. .. i know how those 'last memories' can really bring up the emotions again. I saw a photo of Shelby today on my Timehop app and it was instant tears.

And like Michelle said ... this journey is unlike any other ... I read a blog post today from someone who recently lost their heart dog .. brought me right back. We live our lives for our tripawds and when they are gone, it's like we feel lost ... I know Jasper has been a great addition to my life but I fear the day I have to say goodbye.

I think because I always felt Shelby was invincible ... I was so naive...

Thinking of you and sending love!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Yes, I agree, 2 years is a long ,but short time. I will go for long periods and then something will hit me. I looked at some windows that I am pretty sure are still smudged from Ty the other day. No one else stands at that spot and looks out. I just don't have the heart to wipe them off. The other day they made me feel sad. Sad that he won't stand there anymore. Sad that he is not here. This journey is different although as I now have a 13 year old pup who has a huge chunk of my ❤️, I realize losing any of them is so very hard. I too am thankful for this community. Lori, Ty and gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Oh Betsy, I just saw your post on facebook, I knew his anniversary of his journey's end was coming up soon. But no matter, he will always be there with you, and and your family.

I find with my own angelversary of Polly coming up soon, 3 years already, how far I have come and I thought I would never recover from her passing. But I have somehow, thanks to time, and these new pups in my life. That is what I am wishing and hoping for you, for that enormous pain to cease, and to remember Eddy with all happy, joyful memories instead of the ones that hurt so much. Yep, I still cry at times when Polly's banner comes up, or one of her pics show up in my facebook feed, but mostly I am just grateful I was privileged and chosen to be her mom, soul-mate, and heart-to-heart best friend for 9 years.  💜🐾

Keeping you in my heart always, ❤️

We're so glad you checked in, Betsy. Eddie was such a special part of our family. I agree that the two years goes too slowly and too quickly.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Over the years I have lost a couple of pets and different things make me think of them.  Usually fondly ..and sometimes sadly.  I've loved all of them, but I think sometimes there is just a more special bond with some of them, for whatever the reason.  Murphy is still with us, but we definitely have a strong bond.

Hugs to you on Eddy's special day heart

Donna

Donna, Glenn & Murphy

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Betsy, it's our honor to be there for you when you and Eddy walked this path. It's so hard to believe two years has gone by. I do agree, Tripawds have special places in our hearts, their paw prints just seem so much larger than others.

Thank you for returning here to tell us how you've been doing, it's like a family reunion whenever Tripawds Alumni return. You are always a part of this family no matter how much time goes by.

Lots of love & hugs coming your way now and always.

Thank you, all of you!heart   So great to see all of your replies to my post.  I can't tell you how much it means.  January 6th this year was spent at one of our local universities where my son is being recruited for football.  We spent the entire day there and I have to say I am grateful for that, as it really took my mind off of the significance of the date.   But, I just wanted to say thank you to each of you who took the time to post.  It made me cry!  You guys are truly the best!  I thank God that I found this group two and a half years ago and I am still thanking Him today.  You all are like family to me!  Thank you, again!  heart

It's only because we love you Betsy! And we fell in love with that Eddy boy instantly!! None of that changes or every goes away!

I'm glad Eddy's boy was able to distract you the other day. And what a great way to distract you! Of course, Eddy planned it that way!! Sounds like his boy is pretty darn good at football!!

ANYTIME you pop in, ESPECIALLY with pictures (hint!), always makes it a good day 🙂

Love always
