Tomorrow is the girls & my big trip to K-state.   Yes, very nervous for 2 reasons.  The surgery I always get nervous when my dogs go under anesthetic and the other thing is I will be doing this trip by myself with 2 dogs.  They will be in crates because I don't need anybody jumping out of the car if we have to stop.

The good thing I did call K-state and talk to them and they will have someone out and help me take the girls in after checking them in.  So that is nice.  It will be the student that is assigned to their case.

So I will check in and let everyone know how it goes.  And our Angel Sassy will be looking out for them

You're all in great hands there M. Try not to worry about the anesthesia, vet teaching hospitals use THE most modern and safest methods available (in fact, you'll probably see that anesthesias will be the most expensive part of your bill, it usually is at teaching hospitals, at least that's been our experience at 3 different ones). Vet schools are super careful and very proactive if there are any risks or complications, you can't ask for better care. So breathe, and know that this very big step is a great thing you're doing for your girls. You are such a pawesome mom!

P.S. At some point it would be great to see a post about why you opted for the spay technique at K-State, since it's newer and not too many people doing it yet. Not now of course but when things calm down.

Keep us posted!

They sure are gorgeous girls! Keep us posted on hoe tomorrow goes. I too would be interested to hear about the new spay technique. I think I had read something about not removing everything. Easier recovery etc. Do you get to bring them back home tomorrow also? Will be thinking of you all tomorrow. Hugs, Lori, Ty & gang

Safe travels, my friend.  You will be in my thoughts.  I know surgery on a fur child is enough to make you a nervous wreck, much less two at one time.  Wishing the girls a speedy recovery.

Third time is a charm posting this.  Must be tired lol.  The girls did great in their crates.  We stopped once to let them out to stretch and go potty.  They just wanted to sniff.  We all got up at 4 and the went out to run for a little bit before we left.   We made it here about 9 am.   I went in to check them in then waited for the students assigned to them to come help bring them in.  Brandy  has Snickers and Stacy had Jazz.   I was really proud of Jazz.   She did awesome walked in like a lady.  Snickers jumped around all over.   I suppose she could have been worse but I was embarrassed.  She kept jumping on them.  She knows better.  We went in for their initial evaluation and then Brandy & Stacy presented the girls and their case.

The surgeon then met with me and went over the procedure and what would happen.  I left the girls.  I have gotten 2 updates since they have been there.  Well the 1st one was about a tattoo that they do on the female dogs incase the surgical incision doesn't show so someone would know they have been spayed.  It is the female sign with a line through it.  They forgot to mention it so I said go ahead and do it.

K-state calls all their surgical clients 2 times a day to update onHugs

the dogs care.  So I got my call tonight and the girls are doing well.  Snickers still gets a little excited but has calmed her jumping down.  Their blood work came back excellent with no abnormalities.  Snickers will have her surgery 1st at 9 am then Jazz around 12.  I will get an update after each surgery then again around 7 pm tomorrow night.

Thanks for all the well wishes.  Now if I can sleep tried this afternoon but couldn't sleep.

hugs

Sooooo good to hear you and the girls are all safe!! I'm glad they took the drive well.

Snickers is just extra friendly, that's all! I always equate dogs jumping up on people trying to get close to our "mugs" so they can look at our adorable faces.....just like when we bend down so we can look at their adorable mugs!

The tattoo...I loke that! They real k y seemed to have thought of everything! I loke that Jazz and Snickers have their own personal nurse!

TRY and get some rest and do something fun for YOU!!! Just think, you don't have to sleep like a pretzel tonight!!

Lots of love my friend!

Coming to you from the frozen tundra of Seattle. Just had to log I and saw this and knew we had to send out our well wishes and healing love.  And Shelby's banner was at top of the page so she's looking after. You all as well sorry for the typos. On my iPad. And it's super slow.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

hey Michelle, thinking of you and the girls and hoping for a relatively easy day today. Isn't the care at a teaching hospital great? I dunno, never been to K-State but we've had good experiences at all 3 we've been to.

Keep us posted!

Oh, what happened when you tried to post earlier? Sorry about the problems.

Just got notified Snickers it out of surgery.  The surgery took 2 1/2 hours then she is still in recovery slowly waking up.  She  has been in recovery for about 1/2 hour so far.  I can now breathe a small breath of air.  Now just to hear about Jazz. They had 3 surgeries today so Jazz will be the last one.

The report this am was good about both of them.  They do exams each am.  Snickers was still a little hyper and Jazz had glowing reports that she even sat in their lap as they were doing her exam.  I am glad that they are both being good girls.

Will post more about Jazz and the update for her.

I love the care that they are getting down here.  Its like they have their own staff taking care of them.   Of course I still worry but I know they are in good hands.

Rene, it was operator error.  The 1st time I typed the update I forgot to log in so lost it all.  The 2nd time I closed everything without hitting submit LOL (guess that is what lack of sleep will do to you).   Nothing site related :)

Hugs
