I've waited a bit of time to post our news because we wanted to make sure that everything went as well as we were hoping for.
I haven't been around much, I was having a tough time for a while there.
It's been a little over two months that we have lost our beautiful boy Snoop. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. There are tears that come uncontrollably, but there are also smiles. For our Abby our blind terrier mix, there was such a great sadness with Snoop being gone. When we adopted her, she came into a home with two other fellow dogs, Missy our sheltie and our Snoop. With both of their passings she's gone through a great deal also.
We decided for her it was important for her to have companionship. So... We adopted a little collie/Shepard mix. We have had him for one month and that was our trial time. I've never done a trial time with anyone who has come home to us, but we had to make sure that Abby accepted and was good with him.
I am so so happy to tell you it's going great and Jax is here to stay. Abby loves him, and he seems to worship the little paws she walks on. So we are happy. I have to say his coming has also been good for all of us here at home. There was a sadness here that even seemed to make the air heavy. That sadness has been a little diminished with Jax. The day we brought Jax home was bittersweet in some ways. A tremendous wave of emotion. I was sure we were making a good decision for Abby, that I was happy for, but my heart was over whelmed that Snoop wasn't with us. If we didn't have Abby I wouldn't of able to do this at this time.
I believe my beautiful Snoop had a paw in all of this. He looked over us in making this choice for Abby. He knew Jaxs was going to be a good fit, and if he was here he would of welcomed that little boy with open paws as he did with anyone who came into our family. I think he's smiling and watching us.
Since I'm not too good with computer(jeez really?!) I'm forwarding some pics to Rene to post of the new man.
Esther and her angel Snoop
Oh Esther!!! I am so happy to hear about Jax! Great name! And I cannot wait to see photos. Has it really been two months already?
I totally get the trial run... you know I went through that w/Jasper ... about a month before I told most people I had her in case I needed to take her back or re-home her. And the part about the heaviness in the air... yup, I get that too. I've had Jasper almost three months now and while I miss Shelby every single day, I think the sadness is a bit less and a bit more manageable w/Jasper here... she makes me laugh AND smile. Shelby would have wanted that.
I know Snoops had a paw in this~ He is always looking over you all.
Sending you lots of love and hugs and I can't wait to see photos of the new little guy....

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Ohhh congrats!!! I'm so happy for all of you! Bringing a new pup home is always bittersweet, but Snoop knew what he was doing. He's showing you just how much your heart can grow. I can't wait to see pictures!!!

Congratulations, Esther and your pack! I also haven't been on so much this summer but needed to check in as today is our Princess Roxie's one-year angelversary. I've felt sad all day, but your wonderful news has made all the difference. You joined Tripawds not long after I did, and I remember all your kindness during Roxie's too-short journey. I was so very sorry to learn of Snoop's passing, but am thrilled about your new family member. We adopted a GSD named "Abby" for our Smokey in March and they've turned out to be absolute idiot soulmates. He and Roxie were companions for the 15 months we had her, but she was quite mature and above his goofiness. So I'm pretty sure she's roo-roo-ing about how Abby doesn't give him a minute's peace or privacy, and he loves it. I do believe that our dearly-departed souls have a paw in guiding the right one to join our families, make new memories, and fill up those lonely spaces. Wishing you many happy, healthy years with Jax,
-Liz and Angel Princess Roxie Roooooo Rooooooooooo
Ohhhh my gosh! Esther, congratulations, this is wonderful news, you made the best decision for Abby. Look at how happy she looks! They both do, they are a match made in rescue heaven. Are these pix sweet or what?!
Liz, I know these angelversaries are so hard, I'm so happy that Esther's news could cheer you up, I'm glad you came here. {{{{{hugs}}} Now prepare for more smiles, and know that all our angel doggies like Snoop and Roxie are watching these new packs taking shape and just loving it. Our angels continue guiding us for all time, they are never far.

You, Sally, Liz, Alison.. just a few of us that have had babies brought to us (I know I am forgetting people I shouldn't). Not all sad but a tiny bit because I know how hard it is to bring the new one in but feel bitter sweet.

Aww Esther. He is absolutely adorable. And I am glad you were able to open your home to another baby. Snoops would be proud.

Tears ofnjoy because I KNOW Snoop made this selection for you!! And as we've talked about...you and Don knew it too!!!
The grey days, the void, the heaviness...it's all so painful. For me, I had to have a other dog in my home, in my bed, in my everyday existence, to help put color back in my day...to help push the heaviness away. The joy of having My Pal Merry Myrtle Mae has helped I all those areas. And KNOWING Happy Hannah wants me to be happy, knowing she had hernbig huge paw all over Myrtle and I getting together.....yep..Jax has found his forever home alright!!!
Esther these pictures say it all! Abby is happy and she needed a dog in her life to help puch the heaviness away too!
And y ou KNOW Snoops had his pawsall over this!!! Look at that face!!! AmI seeing what I think I'm seeing? Am I seeing the start of some great bone structure on that mug of his??? Hmmmm...another sign from Snoop perhaps!!
I know you are still healing and I know you feel the loss of Snoops everyday..I dont think that ever really stops. But I know you now have laughter in your day and someone to love and hug..and someone to be a good buddy to Abby......that makes Snoops happy.
We love you Esther....Its just wonderful to hear from you today and to see these great pictures!!! They certainly define cuteness!!!!
Sending love and hugs! Awww, come on, give Jax just one tiny scoop of ice cream as a welcoming gift from Happy Hannah!
Sally and My Eternal Light Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
OMG>>>>>> screaming over here!!! He's sooooooo cute!!! Frog legs!!! I love it!!! OMG... I can't stand the cuteness!!!!
LOVE love love!
