Jasper had 2 milestones today .. divine intervention?!? I think Shelby's paws were all over these ...
First, as everyone knows. .. I have said that Jasper is aloof and doesn't really initiate cuddle or snuggle time ... she lets me hold her but then wants to play and when we go to bed, it's like I have to force her to sleep WITH me but she does cuddle up then when she's snoozy.
So this morning I was getting ready to go for a run and it's dark and I trip over one of Jasper's antlers and total face plant - not stumble full on FALL, face down, bruised knee, rug burn ... I was so stunned and actually thought I had sprained my ankle and Jasper came RUNNING from across the room, got in my lap and started licking me. She was so worried. I have never seen this side of her. I told her I was fine (my own fault for not picking up her toys) and she just wouldn't leave my side. That was 100% a "Shelby" move.
Since it's Wednesday, it's daycare day! Usually when I drop Jasper off, I have to push her through the doors and guide her up the stairs or the handlers have to pick her up since she goes flat and submissive. Not today - they opened the extra door for her and boom... up the stairs she ran and never looked back. The handler and I were both stunned. I said I have never seen her freely go! My girl is gaining confidence and becoming independent! I am SO proud of her!!!
Jasper and I have worked SO hard on so many levels ... It's always so amazing to see that our hard work has paid off. And makes me feel better about leaving her there next week while I'm traveling for work.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Love that sweet little face! The one where she's telling us what she thinks of selfies is priceless. It is amazing to watch Jasper bloom under your love and care. Sweet Shelby certainly did have a paw in this amazing day for you!
Awww Alison....just plain..AWWWWW! I'm sooo sorry for your fall....AND...so warm fuzzy all over the way little Jasper Lily came running over to take care of her Madre!
I didn't realize she didn't like to go to doggy care and wanted to stay with you...her protector. Well, I guess today she just couldn't wait to go and tell all the other doggies how she saved her human's life!!! "I'm a hero! I saved my mommy's lofe! She fell on the floor...knocked herself unconscious...I had to give her mouth to mouth and lick her face until she came to!!"
Yeah, Jasper Lily's confidence is soaring! This little doggy is unstoppable!!
And then we have these ADORABLE pictures! The first one...like others...looks like she doesn't mind selfies with you at all. And then....AND THEN....we have the picture showing us what she REALLY thinks of selfies!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Don't you love those realization moments? It makes all the effort worthwhile. JL is really coming into her own, what a lucky girl to have such a great pack leader and an angel by her side.

Just catching up on this. Ouchie, I am sorry you fell but so glad JL decided to come and rescue you and make sure you were ok. Great progress. Both of you teaching each other. 🙂 Oh and of course the best teacher of all Shelby will continue to guide little JL. I see more & more milestones in the future.

Jasper didn't / doesn't dislike doggy daycare ... she just didn't like it when she saw me leave! She was always happy to be there (from what they tell me and I know they won't let the dogs go if they are truly miserable).
Thank you everyone ... she has been a hard nut to crack and she worked extra hard to wiggle her way into my heart! We still have our bumps in the road but we are growing every day!~
And I saw a BRIGHT and SHINY penny on my run this a.m.! Shelby approves! Wise old pooch that she was!!!

I'm just in awe of how you and JL have grown together. I remember one of the first posts I read from you was your concern(s) that you and JL wouldn't bond. Not so much on her end, but on yours. Well, all I can say is Shelby has done a fantastic job guiding you both to being great. I just can't imagine what's lying ahead for you both.
Love those pictures. I can even see a difference in you from the first pictures of you and JL. I'm so happy for you!

I LOVE these pics!!! Jasper is full on SMILING in the first one with her dear momma!!! And the second...oh my goodness I love her sticking her tongue out at the camera.
You two have indeed grown so much together and your bond continues to strengthen every day.

Oh my goodness, these pictures!! Love them! They need framing! I am just catching up here. Have not been on in awhile. Those antlers are awful. They are a lifesaver for my furniture and rugs, but the number of times I have stepped on and tripped over them. Kudos to miss JL for going to daycare all " by herself". She is just so precious. TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
