At first she wasnt sure what it was. It didn't smell like ice cream and it was a funny looking stuffy, and it sure didn't have the soft consistency of deer poop...
Merry Myrtle's first apple!: http://youtu.be.....6qX_E16KXg
And she finally figures out it belongs in the food group!!!! Puppies don't need no stinkin' napkins!!! Oh, and be sure and cut the volume up to enjoy her apple with her!

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Awww! Chomp! Chomp! Now that's a healthy snack. Next up, she'll be raiding gardens like Murphy!
(Just be careful, I think I read that apple seeds are toxic to doggies.)

OMG .... too cute!!! I give Jasper a tiny sliver of apple when I am cutting one up. Now every time I cut anything that resembles an apple (peaches, pears, etc) she thinks she is getting something. So smart those dogs~
I heard the same - the seeds aren't good for dogs.
Enjoy Myrtle! Glad to see you enjoying a healthy snack! (PS - Shelby LOVED her apples too ... )

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Erica, Jerry and Alison! Thanks for enjoying the joy of Merry Myrtle with me!
Did NOT know that about appleseeds!!! Did a little googling...thanks for passing on the info pals!
"9. Apples are wonderful crunchy treats for your dog. Apples with the skin on are full of plant chemicals (phytonutrients) that are thought to be protective against some types of cancer in humans. They are a source of vitamins A and C and fibre. Apple seeds, however, contain cyanide so your dog should not be allowed to eat the core. Though the effects of a few apple seeds will likely not harm your dog, the deleterious effects can accumulate over time if allowed to eat apple seeds regularly."
And Happy Hannah yells down from the Bridge, "Ice cream ain't got no stinkin'seeds in it!!!"

O....M....D....Myrtle. You made applesauce!!!!!
So far Murphy and Gus haven't figured out that those apples under the tree are good to eat. We have a !@#$%^&* squirrel who has so far taken all of the McIntosh apples and has now started on the Red Delicious. Guess I had better check those chew marks a bit more closely. Maybe they were made by bigger teeth. Naw!!! If those boys got them, I would find them everywhere in the yard.
Guess I will have to get Murphy up here in front of the computer.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Oh good to know that one apple seed isn't totally dangerous, thanks Sally!

OMD look at that slobber!!! Definitely put a smile on my face today.....but Miss Merry Myrtle always does There is a brand of Apple chips called BareFruit. I found them at Costco. Ingredients: Organic Apples. Tanner LOVES them.... they are not only delicious but make a great doggie treat.

I love it. Hear her smack smack smack. I was going to say don't let her eat too many seeds they can be dangerous in excess.

Sally,
We needed a cute alert on that one. That Myrtle has the cutest mug ever. Hank eats anything that drops off a tree, apples, peaches, pears. And anything sitting on the ground, horse poop, horse pellets, chicken pellets. How he hasn't developed a bowel obstruction is a miracle. I do try and stop his eating forays but he is very quick.
Penny
Elizabeth and Jake, I definitely check out the apple chips! Thanks!
Linda and Tucker, Merry Myrtle wants to know what "training" is! Soooooo spoiled ritten in such a short time!
Kathi and Murphy and Gus, Are you aware a squirrel is getting your apples!? You better shape up boys!!! Applesauce?? Very good Kathi!
Michelle and Sassy and Snickers and Jazz and Bosch...Yet more proof that ice cream is a safer "fruit" than apples!!!
Bonnie and Polly and Pearl...and she ALWAYS like to come over and out her heard in my lap only if she is drooling slime trails of slobber.
Penny Maggie, Hank and Blink...Such a smorgasbord of poop from whic to choose! What lucky boy Hank is! Crazy puppy!
