Well, took Lucy in again for about the 4 th time to get her spayed. I have had appts. Made and she came in heat once, was too close to a heat, had a bladder infection, vet rescheduled. Oye! So today we try again. She has had 2 accidents in the house in the past few days. On a whim, I grabbed a urine sample this AM. Guess what? She has another infection. Ugggg! The good news is that the X-Ray showed no bladder stones. They are culturing her urine and sent me home with antibiotics and a dog that still has all of her parts. Hopefully in 3 weeks, we can try again. I am thinking dog insurance is beginning to sound like a good idea. Oh, and my Corgi weighs 33 lbs. she is officially on a weight loss plan<img src="http://tripawds....." title="what-ever" alt="what-ever" /
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Lori,
I can kind of relate with my Pearl.......our vet wants her to go through one heat cycle to hopefully correct a problem with her, and she is now going on 19 months old, and still no heat cycle. How old is Lucy? With all her urinary problems she doesn't have the same thing Pearl has does she? Pearl has a condition her vets call, juvenile vulva, which creates and environment for continual urinary tract infection. Pearls condition is actually fixing itself without her going into heat, but I still want to just put her through heat just the one time.
You are right about the doggy insurance......we are still debating it with Pearl......
Good luck with everything, hope all goes well with Lucy, so she can finally have her surgery in 3 weeks!
Love,

Sally, you gave me a good chuckle!! I remember the forum thread not too long ago discussing this very thing with spaying and neutering.....that was even more hysterical!! But trust me, there is NO better chastity belt for my Pearl than me !!!! I know she will go into heat sooner or later, (obviously much later; both her mom and a couple sisters/half sisters went into heat very late also), the biggest obstacle for me, is that we joined an exclusive dog park earlier in the year, and cannot go there yet, because they don't really want unaltered dogs, but definitely, no females in current heat.......plus, the rescue I want to adopt a Lab from, will not place a rescue dog in a home with an unaltered dog......double or even triple whammy right now. Oh well, nothing to do but ride the tide with this........
Love,
B & AP
Oooh sorry to hear that! Dang. Did you see Dr. Kay's blog series on bladder infections?

I agree, pet insurance is a win-win, we won't be without it now.

Wow...sorry to hear Lucy is having a tough time with UTI's. They are definitely uncomfortable for people so I'm sure poor Lucy is wondering "will this thing ever go away..."
I hope she gets over soon.

Hee hee... I don't know why but hearing about chunky Lucy makes me laugh! 33 pounds is a lot for a little dog! you can send her out to LA and I'll run her back into shape!
Actually, I think Miss Jasper is getting some extra junk in her trunk too....we're going to have to watch it. Jasper is starting to get a JLo booty! I prefer to think my girl is just curvy!
Good luck!
Much love,
alison with the spirit of shelby fur-ever in her heart (and little Jasper too)

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
