We went down to the beach to catch the first sunset of the beach and she was EXCITED and PROUD to walk along the beach! And yes, it is cold enough for a sweater in LA!
And then we found one of her favorite things ... tennis balls! Literally, she would play with these ALL day if I let her. In my tiny apt, I can't throw it far but she loves to chase it.
I can't let her off her leash yet since she's a flight risk and she is a FAST runner but we played a bit ... happy dog!
So proud of her for facing her fears, overcoming them and becoming a confident, strong and HAPPY dog! She is definitely 'being more dog'!
Happy New Years my friends!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
I guarantee you the emtire tripawd community is grinning ear to ear...and applauding BOTH of you!!!
I remember those first videy when the beach petrified her...the sounds, the wind, the sand, the water....and look at her now!!
And the videos of her using her paws to play with the ball...so cute!! And she IS proud of her nacket! Stunningly adorable!! What was the temperature...62 degrees? Brrrrrr......
And I love the way you Californians THROW the ball!!! Whew, she jas to be exhausted doing all that CHASING!!!
This is a remarkable story of the healing POWER OF LOVE! Nooooo waaaaay Jasper Lily could EVER be with anyone other than you! You KNEW to trust Shelby Lynne's choice, even though we all know you did indeed doubt her choice sometimes! And Jasper knew she was "chosen" too and that's why she stayed determined and committed to earning your love! She knew she could never fill Shelby's shoes, but she knew she came to you with her own pair of shoes...and they fit her prefectly!
And Jasper Lily says, "Thank you for loving me!"
And Shelby says, "Thank you for loving me!"
And Alison says to Shelby and to Jasoer, "Thank you for loving me!"
Ahhhh.....the healing power of love!
We love you Alison!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Such joy in that girl! So, you lost the battle with Jasper and Kitty Kat but you were given this beautiful gift of a perfect first day of the year. Is that #ShelbyMagic or what?!
Hey have you ever tried taking her on the beach with a 30' lead? They have them for training purposes and they're fantastic when your dog has to be on a leash but wants to get the zoomies out. We use one all the time with Wyatt Ray .

Since I'm at work I can't watch the video (sshhhh don't tell anyone...) but the picture with Jasper and the beautiful first sunset of the year is just gorgeous!!! I'm so happy that Jasper is gaining confidence with being at the beach and now you both are able to enjoy it together. You both so deserve some happiness and fun in 2015!
Way to go Jasper...you're AWESOME!!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
Oh Sally ... you articulate our story sooooo well! And BTW - it was 58 at the beach last night!
Jasper really has wormed her way into my heart but it's mutual. I have wormed my way into HER heart too. She didn't trust me at all at first and that was obvious but she loves me and feels safe w/me and protects me (as much as I appreciate that I don't always need the 'low-growl' when people come up the stairs at our apt).
I really did luck out! I got a good dog that is really quite smart. My heart's ability to love again has amazed even me. I don't miss Shelby any less or love her less but have let someone else in...
@ Rene- YES, I will look into that to get her one. I think she would like to get her zoomies out since I can't let her off the leash w/out a fenced yard.
@ Sahana - thank you!!! We ALL do and 2015 is going to be a great year!
@ Elizabeth - perfectly said ... it's true, y'all are watching our love unfold in real time...

Love that pretty girl and her tennis balls!!! Tennis balls never lasted long around our house, Maggie destroys them in 5 minutes. Not so much now because she is older and her teeth.. but that is why we went to orange hockey balls!! lol
You need to get her a longer training leash so you can throw that ball farther!!! lol
I'm so happy that you guys are giving each other joy.... it's a warmth and fuzzy feeling that is never turned down... the love and trust of a dog.
Christine... with Franklin in her heart♥
Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
Love, love, love Ms. Jasper Lily on the beach. You go, girl!
And I had to laugh about the cat (well, not the part about you getting no sleep and dealing with the barking, Alison) but the Jasper and cat videos were priceless!
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Alison, I tried to post yesterday, but it went into never land somewhere. My IPads one times is funky. So happy that you and Jasper are making memories. They will never replace the memories that you made with Shelby, but instead add to them. Shelby knew edactyl what she was doing when she sent you JL. Those western sunsets sure are beautiful! Hugs from, Lori, TY, C , L and Daryl
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
I loved the videos!! Keep 'em coming!
Jasper is just the sweetest thing. I love her outfit!

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

OK if anyone has any thoughts on how to tucker Jasper out that doesn't include WINE, send them my way! It's been stormy, gloomy and wet here in LA and yesterday we had to play inside. ALL day. she had to be on me, touching me, putting her toys on my leg or in my lap and I just need some SPACE! I adore her but seriously - she needs to play alone.
Today I have taken advantage of the brief respite from the rain for a THREE mile walk/run/chase the ball on the beach and we get home and she's still full of energy!!! I forget how much puppy she still has in her. But she did sleep 12 hours last night which was great not to have a 5 a.m. Jasper wake-up call! Ahhhh.... kids!
- and look..... she is SMILING! YES ... JASPER LILY DOES SMILE and like the beach. Not as much as my Shelby but MUCH better!!! She still gets spooked by the waves when they crash but soooooo much better!!!
And yes, it is a bit cool at the beach... a balmy 65 degrees! Brrrr... hat weather for me!

I love the work she's done on the fire hose toy, she's really making a dent in that thing.
Looks like a fun day despite the dreary weather. Have you tried any interactive games and toys? They really work for a little while and no Doggie Downers required either! Also, aren't there indoor dog parks in your part of the world? I thought I'd heard about some in L.A.
