And as happy as I am that she is 100% ... I am dreading the vet bill... xrays, lab work, food to make her poop... I'll just charge it away and think "AIRLINE MILES". I'll have to see if any of this is covered w/our Pet Insurance. I am thinking no since there isn't anything wrong w/her but I'll run it past them when I get the bill.

Oh, my! We were out all morning and I just now got to the site. Jasper Lily...you definitely need to get a little of that zen your Momma talks about! Doing the butt-scooting boogie does NOT inspire confidence.😢 So glad you are OK.

We have had numerous go arounds with bad tummies here. Both Gus and Murphy had cases of giardia (at different times, fortunately). Those required stool testing and meds. Luckily, Ollie has only had one problem time, and boiled rice for a couple of meals cleared him right up. Lab stomachs are pretty much cast iron.

OK, Alison... An entire bottle of really good wine with a bunch of REALLY GOOD chocolate is called for as the dinner special tonight!

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Oh good, I'm late and crisis is over.  Timing is everything!

I'm glad JL seems to be OK,  of course you probably lost a year of your life to stress!

Oh, and btw, i would certainly expect the insurance to cover it. I mean, if it's like any insurance I've had, it's not dependent on a diagnosis, but on the fact that she needed investigation/treatment in the opinion of the vets, which she clearly did.

Thanks All. She's home but she's definitely not alright. She's whining (a lot ) and now I see blood in her poop. The vet gave her anti-diarrhea meds but I think we need to go to the ER. I am really worried.  We've been home over 90 minutes and she can't settle down. I feel horrible for her... her diarrhea has not stopped either and I think it should have by now. Poor girl.

Oh gosh Alison! Don't know what ro say!

The anti diarrhea shot could be making her tummy cramp and cause the whining. The bloody stool isn't that unheard of with the gastro upset.

Do yiu think an ER vet could tell you if the shot would cause her being uncomfortable and if the bloody stool is somewhat expected??

All ner tests came back okay, right? But you're still waiting for a more comprehensive analysis of the bloodwork, is that right??

Okay...just saw where she's resting now. It's been a long day for her,and for you! I don't know that an ER Vet would do any additional tests to add to what you've already done.

I do believe the bloody stool is from the gastro upset... I just know my vet wouldn't have sent her home if she wasn't ok. She's 'leaking' back there. and poor thing is SO thirsty but I can't let her drink gallons of water... I bet she is dehydrated from the loose stool.

Her blood work was fine but we're waiting on the other tests and the stool tests... I think I am going to try and let us both rest and we'll see in the a.m. I know I won't really sleep that well though. The vet said there are lots of parasites out there now ... so who knows what she has.

I just have to remember, when I don't feel good ... I don't get a shot and immediately feel better so why would it be different for her. I think I am just hyper-sensitive anymore. And I already spent 3+ hours in my car today covering hardly 60 miles. LA!

And that's true ... more $$$ for the ER vet to tell us the same thing ... have to wait for tests. They can't give her any more meds. OK... we're going to try and sleep! Thank you for listening and helping!!!

Always nere for you Alison!! I think you've got a pretty good handle on things a d you've analyzed her situation very well tonight. An no, the Vet would NOT have sent her home if he suspected anything the least bit serious at all!!

If she doesn't throw it backnup, Id let her have the water. I know you don't want her up peeing all night, but she'll probably be up a couple of times anyway with some residue poop.

You DO get the irony that this IS Thursday....and YOU are the Helpline host today!! 🙂 🙂 You're doing an EXCELLENT job of taking yourself off the edge!! 🙂

Love you!!

Oh gosh, I do hope she will be feeling better this morning. And I hope you have managed to get some sleep too. You must be utterly exhausted. Re the blood, Elsie had a LOT of blood in her stool, not just the odd drop, pools of it, when she had a nasty bout of gastroenteritis. I was beside myself with worry, but she was absolutely fine. They gave her an injection, like Jasper had, and she was on a drip (which, I'm guessing Jasper probably was?) and then prescription/bland food and prokolin. totally fine. Thinking of you and Jasper ❤️
