Some of y'all already saw this on my Facebook page today but this little psychopath made me absolutely bat sh!t crazy this a.m. so off to daycare for her (it was already a daycare day scheduled but still). Between the ignoring of the snooze alarm (alarm goes off and she is instantly WIDE awake) psycho barking for no good reason at 6:15 a.m. (literally nothing there) to running laps in the apt to going nuts for spinach (head in fridge after the bag but didn't want to eat the spinach, just toss it around the room), she was 100% channeling her "inner-Shelby" as I put it now.

This was her face when I dropped her at daycare:

Total 180 from the faces I used to get (however, she still does 'resting bitch face' - a lot).

Image Enlarger

I hope she's having fun, being good and will be all  tuckered out when I get her home. I am on day three of a 10 day juice fast and I've got limited reserves of energy that I need to expend for my commute on the dreaded 405 in LA! 🙂

Oh and this is our new favorite game - eat the water bottle. It never gets dull for her. I did have to take it away when I noticed she broke through it... such a lovely sound! Oh Jasper Lily... I don't know how often Miss Shelby speaks to you but you are definitely acting more and more like your big sister these days! Did I mold her into Shelby or do I just attract crazy dogs?

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Alison,

I've seen toys in pet stores that accommodate an empty plastic bottle.  She could make the noise with less chance of eating a piece of plastic.

Maggie used to love the noise the bottles made.  She could only pick it up by the top because her mouth was too small for the whole bottle.  But she figured out to step or lay on it to crush it a little then she could get it.

She is too cute!!! I too have seen the animal toys. Some even have the bottle already in them. Oh, the glorious sound they make. Doggie joy right there! Love the big grin. At least you can see that she is happy to go there. She is most definately becoming so much more relaxed. So adorable! Love from, Lori and Ty

She's gone full on bat crazy ... there is no other word to describe her. Daycare did exhaust her last night (which was great) but about 5 a.m., I hear the click, click of the tiny paws in my room. Then when my alarm went off, her little paws were up on the base of my bed (she can't quite jump up there on her own which is fine since I don't want her up there till we get that peeing thing 100% under control), like she was saying, "madre, up, up, up!!!"

When I got back from my run, I didn't have time to run her and clearly I should have when she started to do laps around my living room, up on the furniture, down, around and repeat! I must say, her jumping worries me each time she does it and I am sure, with time, I will let her be 'a dog' but I am petrified of fractures after what I went through with Shelby. She took a rolly-tumble down the stairs in her excitement to 'kill the kitties' and I darn near had a heart attack. The rational me knows that she is a dog and I can't put her in a bubble but the mom in me that went through a fracture last year is constantly worried that she's too rough with her little self!

But yes, will get her one of those toys that has the bottle (or place for the bottle) yet it's not a sound i love to hear after a long day at work but she definitely loves them. She has killed 90% of the squeakers in all her other toys ... odd since Shelby never really killed them... just pulled the fluff out. Silly girl!

Oh xs that by 2 and that is what I have when I get off work.  from one couch to the other.  Down the hall up on the bed in one room to the other bed in another room.  Attacking Bosch.  Its crazy.

I totally get why you freak out with her jumping with what happened to Shelby.  Its a fear that you will have but are facing it each time Jasper goes Bat crazy lol.  You will slowly get over that fear.  Remember Jasper doesn't have cancer.  YOU didn't do anything wrong with Shelby it was this sucky disease that did it when her leg fractured.  Just BREATHE through the crazy spells and you will survive you are a fighter too.

Hugs

I call it a manic attack, Tani is to old to do it now but Obie lets loose once in a while.  He tucks his tail a little and zooms around the house a few times.

There also exists toys with replaceable squeakers.  Tani's favorite toys have always had squeakers which it was her mission to silence. Her fav of all time was a squirrel (squirrel!)  Even now that she is deaf she likes them- I think she can feel the squeaker crunch in her mouth.  In order to keep the de-stuffing down we went with toys without stuffing but that had replaceable squeakers.  My dad found them in bulk on line somewhere- you can google I'm sure.  When she would kill a squeaker I would take it out, wash the squirrel, add a new squeaker and it was a new toy!

I love the visual of Jasper zooming around your house...

Alison,
Sorry I'm late for this really fun topic!! In your humorous words, I've been " bat sh!t crazy busy" lately !!

I truly love how little miss Jasper Lily has come into her own, and that butterfly has emerged and flown! I can't get enough of her cute, funniness !! But I'm betting you are finding some of her antics " less funny", lol.......!!

Keep getting those pics and videos to share, we all just love them !!

Much Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly

@ Michelle - Thank you!!! I do try and breathe each time she does it ... but Shelby did the same thing for YEARS w/out incident. It was the car that was the ultimate fall that broke her leg. I try NOT to go there. And it's hard NOT to think about Jasper's 'expiration date' - kind of like how a car depreciates in value the second you drive it off the lot? I was so living with 'rose colored glasses' with Miss Shelby. And I cannot even imagine your two - they've got quite a bit of girth on little Jasper!

@ Sally - don't give me any ideas ... hmmm... I might have some bubble wrap at home!

@ Karen - yes! Pure manic is a great way to describe! It's like she's got a wild hair in her bonnet and off she goes ... round and round and up and down. Now my old casa had carpet but this hardwood floor adds an extra slide factor but she's gotten better about knowing where to zoom/crash (usually on the area rug). I tried to catch it on video but I was too mesmerized this a.m. It was hilarious!

@ Bonnie - oh this girl has definitely come into her own and found her confidence! Truly amazing!!! We might try the beach tonight to see if she's still spooked! Thank you for enjoying her antics ... she's definitely a different dog than 2 1/2 months ago (and she's even getting bigger - taller). Pure joy, that one. Pure joy!

And Shelby knew ... God bless her soul... she 100% knew what she was doing. 🙂

Manic Jasper Lily:

This is a morning activity and usually goes on for much longer than I am able to catch on video. This a.m. it also involved the destruction of a paper towel that I had left out and attempted destruction of my pillows! I am going to get some bitter apple spray since "someone" is having a hard time "remembering" which are toys and which are pillows!

SO much fun!

I didn't want to clog the forums w/Jasper's beach drama so I updated her blog. Dog hates the beach. Plain and simple. But it's been a significant lesson learned by me that since that was my sanctuary with Shelby, it further solidifies our eternal bond and is forcing me out of my comfort zone to create NEW memories w/Jasper and new memories in life... That Shelby ... she's always teaching... even as a spirit, she continues to guide me!

Oooh gotta see the blog...

Just wanted to say that Jasper makes one great alarm clock!

Funny you mentioned that about the pillows being chew toys. I just washed a small comforter and it exploded inside the washing machine...apparently Wyatt had been using it as his chew toy and I didn't know it. Stuffing everywhere! Maybe I'll start spraying everything with bitter apple!
