Last year at this time we took Ollie on his first camping trip. Even when he was swimming (and I use that term loosely, as it didn't appear he had done that before), he had to wear a harness and a 30 foot rope. He would take off whenever he got the chance and only stepping on the rope if he stopped to sniff would allow me to catch him. These videos was taken earlier this week at the same campground.
Not sure how many videos I can put in one post, so I will put the other two in another post.
Kathi and the a Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
One very short video from class on Thursday night. Ollie was the very last dog who got called to come. He did a superb job at stay.
And one taken this afternoon. We exchange newspapers with our next door neighbor. She takes one local paper and we take the other. It was always Gus' job to walk the paper over and bring back the other one. Ollie has now learned the job and in fact he's doing it better than Gus used to. Normally, Ollie will just take the paper straight o the porch, but normally he doesn't have me following him with the iPad, either.

I think it's time to come up with a new name because uncontrollable doesn't fit that well loved perfectly trained boy anymore! He's come a long way thanks to his perfectly perfect pawrents that saw past his "moniker" that he was given by people that never got to really know him where he came from. What an awesome fit you guys are for each other.
Hugs!

I CANNOT STOP SMILING AND SHAKING MY HEAD IN AMAZED DISBELIEF!!
This Ollie...this Karhi and Garry......this team....this bond.....the patience....the commitment....the shared love and respect...MAGICAL!!
And Ollie is sooooo happy!! All of this is fun to him! His tail wags and he SMILES!! To have to sit and wait in his training class to be called after all the others. Cannot believe how focused Ollie can stay on the task at hand 🙂
Ollie really is a strong swimmer! I love how her "surfed"'over one of the waves never taking his eye off the prize.
And then.....AND THEN.....walking the paper over to your neighbor and bringing back the other one...and not even thinking about running off! OOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMDDDDDDD!
You two have done an outstanding job in "training"'Ollie! Gus and Murphy TRULY picked a very, very special Dog Soul for you!
I cannot get enough of this dog and his accomplishments and his growth! It's hard to imagine what this dog will be doing next with yiu two. I know it will be. SPECTACULAR no matter what!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
It's Not Uncontrollable Ollie at all, more like Out-of-Sight Ollie! LOVE IT!!!
What a difference indeed. You are all proof that even the most out of control dog is not uncontrollable. With dedication and commitment, anything is possible. Thanks for sharing the hope!

Thanks, everyone. Ollie has completely taken our hearts and made them whole again. We are so thankful that we were the family he ended up with. I don't know that very many people have the time and patience to deal with a 90 pound untrained puppy, but we were determined to make it work...and it did!
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork. (And he is still a Labradork, just a better trained one)

I wanted to hold off on this one until after the test. Ollie passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen test tonight! He is officially a good boy. Retriever class starts tomorrow night.
