Once again, Murphy's banner appeared at the top of the page this morning. Every time I see it, I smile and say a tearful "Hello, Baby". Some days the smile is bigger than others, and some days there are more tears. I guess this is just one of the teary days.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Probably because there's just been so much sadness lately
Sorry Kathi
Go give that Labradork a big smooch

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Have been some really hard hits in our community lately. It is really hard when we get to know one another, and our furry companions, so well through this journey.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Yes, seeing Murphy, and Gus too,....while bittersweet, the smiles overrride anynother emotions.
And yep, I talk to Happy Hannah's banner too! I wave my hand over it as though I'm petting her. I bet everyone has some sort of "ritual" when the banners too. Actually, I always say at least an "Awww..." when I see everyone's banner!
And Donna is right, all the sadnesses back to back lately have been BRUTALl on all of us. ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL! Like everyone hear, we feel their losses over and over and over each time with TRUE empathy. And while we grieve with them, we relive our own losses and every single aspect of their own transition over and over and overand over!
There just doesn't seem to be ANY let up these past several months. Some never made it out of surgery, some never got to surgery, some just weeks after surgery and, of course, Otis and Tess leaving this earth sooo close together. Our Pofi, our Baby Bandit, our Athla...okay...stopping naming names...just sooooo many sooo close together. Close together or not, we feel each and everyone of them.
Kathi, you and Murphy contribute sooooo much to ALL of us on this journey. Needless to say Murphy was unique is so many ways, but all the hurdles he had to go through with the amputation and all the other leg/hip issues and all the devotion and commitment you and Garry did to give him the best life EVER....WOW!! And you also lost Gus and Murphy close together...soooo hard, so very hard.
Oh, let's not forget the holidays coming up and how they can also be vittersweet!!
So yeah, sucky times!
And yet, no matter how sad and brutal this journey can be, if it was the only way we could have them in our lives, we would do it all over again! And, I believe it was Karen wh said, they picked us because they knew we could handle it. I do believe they came here with a mission and had to use this jkurney to accomplish it. And they didnpicknus, and we picked them, all on a Soul level for all sorts of enlightenment.
Geez! Sorry to ramble!!
Thanks for posting this Kathi. We soooo understand!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thank you, Donna and Christine and Sally. I don't know how we would have been able to make it without the friendship and support that we have found in Tripawds. This is such a special group of people, and I feel honored to be a part of it.
I have seen Murphy's banner three times today. Each time there have been fewer tears, partly due to the warm furry body who is asleep on my feet. Ollie has definitely sensed that I needed "Labradoring" today. He even spent the better part of the afternoon upstairs in my sewing room with me, which is rare for him if Garry is home.

Yep, I get it. I say hi to Sassy and the ones I knew. You are right some days are harder than others. I had to take last night off as a "Mental Health" night. It was just too hard.
hugs
