Although I like the name "Frankie" (Franklin's just too sophisticated for this Hound), I always loke to ease my rescues out of their "shelter names" and ease them into their "forever home" name.
I know I'm used to big dogs, but everything about "Frankie" seems so little! I wasn't sure what else had been "amputated"!
Sooo.....I was in the chat the other night discussing Frankie's....err...tiny ..teeny...er..privates. I even took a picture to help them SEE the "dilemma" Here....take a look.......
Rene assured me I was just used to "larger apendages"!!! Yeah.........
Well, anyway, Frankie must have heard me because all day today hes been trying to "hump" poor Merry Myrtle like a big dog! She thinks it's non-stop playtime and tosses him to the ground and keeps on playing.
Sooooo....Mr Humpty Dumpty Anthony Wiener showed me...literally!!! I saw his little red rocket...and didn't need a magnifying glass!!! Don't worry! I'm not posting pictures of that!!!!!
But here we have an exhausted pair sleeping...notice poor Merry Myrtle is barely on the bed!! She really is a kind and gentle soul.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
This was Monday when Frankie and I first met! She had him on the leash...he came right up to me and .....well....look....look at that face!!!!!!

I love the photos - happy, happy dogs. They are a lot more expressive than a cat. These are happy times ahead for you and Myrtle getting to know your new family member. How exciting!

ps. I just learned tonight that cats can jump 5 times their height or more. That's about 40" for Mona which she easily does.

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. LMAO!!!!! his privates..... LOL ... I've never had a boy dog so I am not as familiar w/those 'issues'... I've always been partial to girl dogs. I don't know why but that is me!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Love, love, love the first meeting photo! That pup sure knew that he was meant for you.
As far as privates go...are you sure he is as old as they said? Sometimes things take a while to "develop". It definitely didn't take him long to start telling Myrtle that he wants to be the alpha dog.

PS. Don't you wish you could show Miss Crabbypants just how much you were meant to have another Tripawd?
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

I'm taking him in for a check up Monday and hopefully.can get a little more clarity on his age. He plays absolutely full out! It's almost impossible to make him be "cautious"!

I think it's really funny that we all had mostly mellow dogs....Jake, Shelby, Ty, Hannah, Lexi (etc) and now we all have full of energy crazy dogs. That group at the rainbow bridge must really be getting a kick out of this. I think it's a conspiracy....

I like Frankie but sure get the re-naming thing. For some reason Merlin popped into my mind when I saw his new pic ... in case you are taking suggestions 
. Travis' rescue name was Caruso (hate opera, hated it) so I renamed him immediately when we took him in as a foster. Codie Rae's shelter name was Squirrel (hated it). So undignified for a GSD! Besides for a dog to be named after its arch enemy would drive it insane, don't you think?

Well, not having had a dog but walked a few. I just thought that's boy dogs all do the lipstick thing.
Martha, as for Austin being a therapy dog, one of my favourite organizations trains great danes as service dogs. They had one of theirs with a problem - the lipstick got stuck OUT and wouldn't go back in. They tried everything (not sure what that entailed) and had to take the dog to the vet. Personally, I think it would be funny and humour is therapy

Sally, Congrads on Frankie, ignore what Hank said, he's just jealous. Frankie is a darling and I'm sure Myrtle will learn to love him like Blink has learned to love Hank (well that actually hasn't happened yet). Love your Bud

I love it. This is a great topic. Sally I love the firs meet picture. Everyone has had great ideas. I think if the name is meant to change it will come to you & you will know. I kinda like Frankie, but he will let you know what is good.

This is so funny! Chandler's comes peeping when we have food around. Only people food though. TY would just sit and fart while we ate. Yep, dinner time at my house can get a bit amusing. Sally, I love the picture of you picking up Franklin. He is just melting into you. As far as the name, I say take it as it comes. You see how far I got. Daryl it is. He definately knows it now. You could call him Oscar ( for Oscar Meyer wiener)
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
