You know.... I think I am becoming one..
I only have the two of course because that is all we can do right now... and I know that eventually we will be down to one.. and then back up to two again...
But.. I find myself at times preferring to spend time with my dogs than people. Even on the weekends I sometimes find myself saying.. nah.. I'll stay home with the dogs.
After all.. why not? They don't drink and get stupid or obnoxious... they don't expect you to feed them beer or booze or appetizers... They will share in a cheesie or two... and they are more than happy to snuggle and watch a movie with you.. or let you take them for a walk and throw a ball... They don't talk back.... okay well most times they don't. They don't leave their mess on the kitchen counter for your to clean up... nor do their leave their clothes on the floor.
They love you no matter how you look... what you are wearing... I would take that any day!!!
Maggie is having good days.. and when she has a good day, the next day she is a bit stiff.. but the tail is still wagging! I don't take her for a morning run/walk... she goes after work for her walk on the trails. If she goes in the monring, she is stiff for the evening walk and I think she prefers the evening walk better.
Here is a pic of the snuggler ..... she will tuck her head right under your chin and stay like that for the longest time.. even snoring sometimes..
Ah.. the life!
Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
How do you keep them from leaving their clothes on the floor? Ours drop theirs everywhere! We often refer to Gus as a Walking Hairstorm.
Loved your post. And you are sooooo right.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
CHRISTINE!!! WE LOVE YOU! If all the world had nothing but crazy dog ladies...or men, in it, there would be love, happiness and world peace!
You are soooo funny!!
Really glad to hear Maggie is enjoying her mature years and evening walks. Having you as her human...her crazy dog lady...is a true gift!
AND THAT PICTURE, OMD! LOVE...PURE LOVE...TOTAL CONNECTION OF HEARTS...ONE HEART...JUST PRICELESS! This is definitely one of your forever treasures!
Thank you for the post AND photo today! Clearly Maggie is content and happy!
From one crazy dog lady ro another...much love!
Sally and Happy Hannah and My Pal Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Oh that is a beautiful photo!!!! Add me to that list ... I MUCH prefer the company of dogs to people 90% of the time! Even though Jasper isn't 'the love of my life', I definitely will take an evening w/her over an evening where I have to put on make-up, big girl shoes and dresses to go out and spend money that I would much prefer to spend on toys for my pooch!
Dogs unconditional love is something that cannot be replicated ... I think I saw a saying once - "dogs are the only animal that will love YOU more than they love themselves"... so true. TO be loved by a dog is the greatest joy in life!
Happy happy!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Christine,
Such a precious picture! It truly shows the connection between a dog and THEIR human. It made me think about the hours I would spend over the weekend curled up on the couch with Leland right next to me while reading a book. I would constantly be touching/rubbing him and he loved it. I really miss that now that he's gone. And don't get me started on all the snuggle time in bed while watching TV while my husband was downstairs watching something else. For a 108lb he was definitely a cuddlier.
Well I better stop before I start crying over here. Thanks for sharing the beautiful picture and reminding me that a dog's unconditional love is the best!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
Christine, I love the picture! Ok, this is getting crazy. I was just thinking the exact same thought today. I prefer dogs to a lot of humans. Even though I have 2 walking hairstorms, they don't care how I look, what mistakes I have made in my past, how much I weigh etc. they just love me. No judgement, no expectations other that 2 meals, some treats and belly rubbing. Now that's what I'm talking about. Lori and Ty
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
I always prefer my dogs to people and these days a lot more than my family LOL.
Consider me a crazy dog lady then too. I love this picture and she is so happy there snuggling with you 🙂 Nothing wrong with that at all.
Hugs

Oh I am SOOOOO with you. If people were more like dogs I'd like them so much better!! If its any consolation I'm becoming a crazy animal person (or so I have been told by my family LOL). We have a dog (crazy man Tanner), 3 cats, hermit crabs, a bearded dragon and will be taking in a turtle sometime next week. Not to mention the wild tomcat we feed and the wildlife creatures that have stayed in "Hotel Moi" overnight awaiting "Taxi Moi" to take them to a rehabber in the morning. I will proudly stand up next to you as they call us all crazy because if this is what crazy truly is, I love it!!
The picture of Maggie snuggling with you says a million words. It is absolutely beautiful!! Nothing is more telling than a wagging tail!!

Sweet Maggie.......I love her........Christine, the general consensus here, is that we ALL want to become crazy dog ladies!! Most days, our pups are WAY more preferable to be around and with, than being around "people", for sure. My favorite saying has always been, "the more I know of people, the more I like my dog".......except "us" people, we know all about that unconditional love and loyalty, and like Sally says, and I agree, if all the world had nothing but crazy dog ladies and men, the world would be awesome.
This picture is so beautiful, it just melts my heart.......I am so hoping Maggie has many more happy, snuggly, unconditional love kind of days ahead.
Much Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly
I'm with you all! Not only am I a self professed crazy dog lady but most of my friends and family believe it too. People are warned prior to the first visit to our home, if you don't like dogs don't come. My husband and kids are aware that if backed in to a corner it would be the dogs over them lol. They bring me peace, and craziness, but are always accepting of me. As for the clothes on the floor, well mine both love to steal socks and leave them around. It's a zoo in here, but I couldn't imagine it any other way. With that said, there continues to be a HUGE hole in my life since Jake's passing (Jake Momma loves you... run like the wind) Give me a dog any day. I don't care if they smell, shed, make the house a mess they are the best companions I could ever hope for. I never aspired to be a red hat club lady ...but certainly don't mind being in the CRAZY DOG LADY CLUB!
Phew.. glad I am NOT alone!!! It's good to know that there are others out there just like me! I mean.. after all.. you have to be a crazy dog ladyto not even think twice about this..
I will admit... we let him sleep on the bed.. I have always had dogs on the bed... but all I did was get up to go to the bathroom and I came back to this... seriously?? First thought was... that looks comfy... second thought was.. grab my camera... third was.. ok.. move over... Some people would see that and go..... ewwwwwwwwwwww... lol
Elizabeth.. yes.. you are a crazy animal person!! That is quite the assortment!!
We could start a thread...
I am a crazy dog lady because ______________________________!
I could fill that in with the comment that out of the 592 pictures I have on my phone.. only two are of my kids, a few of my sweetie (but he has a dog with him), maybe 40 are of my garden... and the rest are Maggie and Wilson!!
I mean after all.. they are just so photogenic!!! And I like to photobomb Wilson's selfies!!!
Christine... with Franklin in her heart♥
