Ollie graduated from Advanced Obedience today. We think his graduation photo looks like a trophy.
http://i899.pho.....jileyc.jpg

He did his off lead heel work in the little dead end street outside the training center,

After class he went to Dutch Brothers and got to have a Puppichino.

I will have to say that his a much more dainty sipper than Myrtle. LOL! I am having trouble loading the video to YouTube, so will try it again from Phitobucket.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

OMG ... I LOVE these!!!! LOVE!!!! He's so amazing and well trained. I don't think I have ever had a dog that well-behaved in my entire life!

PS - not letting Jasper see the video of the puppy latte.... she still hasn't gotten one yet and I don't need her thinking of ways to steal my wheels!

These are great. he's done SO well with you .... SO lucky to have you!!!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Was that balancing act part of his schooling? Oh my dog how did you get him to do that?!

Congrats to you both, it's a puppy latte that's well deserved. Go Ollie!

OHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYY GOSH!!!!!!! OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH. MYYYYYY GOSH!!!!!

I am on smile overload!!!! The kind of smile overload that makes my face hurt!!! And I'm loving it!!!!clap

OLLIE!!! OUTTA' CONTROL OLLIE!!!! LOOK AT YOU SITTING IN YIUR TROPHY!! How in the worldm did you get up there!! Is your butt duct taped!!
This picture needs to be on the cover of ...of something! The cover of a world famous book would be appropriate!! Or Ollie could be the Spokesdog for the fire hydrant maker!

And then watching Ollie be such a good, good boy and doing a superb job in heeling!! He has come soooooo far!!! The respect you see in his eyes for you, along with the pure joy of being with you...such a beautiful thing!!

And then....and then....AND THEN....we have Olie slurping his PUPPICHINNO!!! And slurping it without spilling a drop and not a drool slime string in sight!! Mr. Manners is yet another certificate Ollie should receive!!

I wish I knew how to get all those cute and colorful little do dads Bonnie puts on her post! I'd use 'em all! And there's no "five limit ban"...eh...eh!!clap

Ollie! I'm still grinning over here! Such a great treat tonight!

Much love!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS...Alison, if you see something that looks like a video tape marked "confidential" to Jasper Lily...don't open it!!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

The fire hydrant sit was totally unexpected by us. After Ollie had passed his tests and even showed off with something he and I had been working on (i put him at stay in his "place", and then scatter some treats on the ground while walking away from him. When I call him to come, he makes a beeline for me without even trying to go for the treats), the instructor gave us his diploma and asked if we had noticed the hydrant. We had, but thought it was just a part of the decor. He called Ollie over, pulled a bench up behind the hydrant, and told Ollie to get up on the bench. After that he told Ollie to "place" and stay on the hydrant. Garry stood next to him until the bench was taken away and then we all backed off to take the pictures. Ollie actually sat there until he was released and then jumped down. TOTALLY UNCONTROLLABLE!

After he takes a couple more classes in a group setting, we will be taking him to something called Outdoor Adventure where he will learn how to behave in settings like sidewalk cafés and large groups of people. Garry is also planning to enroll him in the retriever class before fall. The instructor believes that Ollie has had some retriever training based on things he does in class and at home, including "pointing" something he wants us to throw. I will have to look for that picture. It is a classic

Thank you all for being a part of our life with Ollie. It is so much fun to see him learn and grow.

This is soooo exciting! Watching Ollie evolve into this outstanding dog he was born to be! He was waiting the whole time for you! Murphy and Gus sent you a masterpiece just waiting to be "lainted" by you and Garry!

I bet you nearly fell over when you saw Ollie getting up on that hydrant! That was absolutely brilliant....and hard to do!! I can't even believe you could "train" a doggy to do that! I LPVE how happy he looks in that photo. Pretty sure there's a bit of pride on his face too!

So the "pointing" picture....he's actual pointing at the toy he wants you to throw?? This dog really is smart! He coukd not...absolutely could not...have a better human family to be with.

Now, how great wluld it be to see a video of Ollie getting up in the hydrant...PLEASE!!!!!!! That would be a YouTube sensation...right behind the Granny Bump! PLEASE!!

Thank you for all the compliments.

Any of you can do what we have...as long as you have unlimited time to devote to dog training. LOL! It's nice being retired. Right now Ollie is headed into his third training class, with three more to work on after this. We work with him every day, both on walks and at home. He is such a huge goofoff and so stubborn that nobody could stand to be around him if he hadn't been taught some manners. At 85 pounds of sheer muscle accompanied by a total puppy brain, we never would have managed without training.

That said, we did our first open off leash come this afternoon. No fences, lots of praise and cookies. On the first try he was pretty independent, but finally came to me. After that he was allowed a bit of "free dog" time between tries. He did quite well for his first time. Now he is asleep (for the moment), but I think I hear the beginnings of the predicted thunderstorm, so he will be up checking the perimeter soon.

it also helps that he is probably the smartest Lab we have had. The sheer number of words he understands is amazing. One more video, just because.

Okay! That's it! Ollie needs a Holkywood Agent! This boy is a doggy genius!! He is! Really!!

That video was amazing!! And to do all that off leash stuff and not running off....craaaazy good dog!!

Yoj two really, really are excellent trainers! Patience and time and training classes all help. But what really makes the difference is you and Garry...and a dog who needed you two as much as you needed him. Getting all teary eyed must thinking about what would jave happened to him jad Murphy and Gus sent him to you.

I hope you realize that the Tripawd Community is enjoying watching Ollie grow into such a spectacular dog with some outstanding gifts! And this is just the beginning!!

Just lpving all these great videos and hearing about all Ollie's accomplishments, as well as yoirs 🙂

Lpts and lots of love!
