…leg.
Tripawds Rene: [00:24:05] Yeah. We see that a lot with dogs who have a back leg amputation. When they try to do what we call ‘air scratching.’ They'll take the missing leg and start to try to scratch their ears. It's like the saddest thing in the world. We always had a back scratcher
…they lose half of it, jumping is tricky. The more boxes/ramps/steps you can put out for her, the happier and less injury prone she will be.
The "air scratching" behavior is common with rear leg amputees, and if it's not accompanied by scary yelps or running from the pain, it's just the stump and brain
…for sure, phantom leg pain
is much different than air scratching or random stump twitches. I'm glad it sounds like Amber and Gizmo aren't affected.
…twitching or movement around the site....I do see her do the air scratching thing often. Definitely at night always and I think its when she finally lies down to relax she must have muscle spasms. She has been to her
…be a regular thing and what else can you do but go "awwwww." We just spent the last 5 minutes using a back scratcher to satiate Wyatt's obsessive air scratching. It didn't work so we gave him a Benadryl. Ugh.
