Yikes I missed a lot over the weekend! Just catching up, was offline more than usual.

I see what you mean about her walk/fall movement. That's so interesting about how/when it happens. Yes, show the therapist and I'm also glad you decided to keep the appointments.

We all think the worst when we get worrisome information from the vet. But we see a lot of situations here among members, and not all of them turn out to be worst case scenario. So taking things day by day, hour by hour, and processing the information once we know what we are dealing with, is the only way to stay calm. You are doing a great job of doing that, you've come a long way just like Tuni!

Thanks Jerry for the support! I will definitely be showing the video to the rehab specialist and see what she says. I’m kinda thinking that as long as I give it to her right after she eats, she will probably sleep for a few hrs (as she always did after eating) and hopefully bypasses where she might feel the lost effect from the gaba.

So I decided to go ahead with the antibiotic and the demanarian supplement (I knew what that was cause of you Holly!) that the vet doc suggested last night. The antibiotic should be 10-14 days. The supplement should last 2 months, but was told to recheck in 4-6 weeks.

I told the vet doc that I am going in this with a positive outlook cause Tuni is a fighter (thank you Sally for saying that)! I asked her if her levels are very alarming, and she said it wasn’t at that point and that it’s a rule of thumb that when there is an increase in levels that it should be addressed, so I’m feeling confident. Thanks Sally, Holly, and Jerry for being there for me this past day! Ya’ll truly are amazing people!

Yes, you are BOTH fighters! And confidence is good. You've earned it, and now keep it. Way to go on making decisions, and advocating for her in unison with your vet. GO TEAM TUNI!!!

You give Denamrin on an empty stomach, fyi. There is no putting that in food. Do you have a good piller? I use these VetOne Pet Piller for Dogs & Cats, 12 count. I have tried many, and this is the best we have found; perfect (no). It makes our lives much easier twice a day! They only sell in 12 packs, which irked me initially, but it makes sense because the efficiency wanes after one week of use. It is a reasonable price when you break it down 1.50 each. They are the same brand our kitty vet sells.

That sounds like an excellent plan & we will all keep our paws and fingers crossed/ for these to lower those liver values!

I look forward to what rehab has to say on the Gaba.

Hugs and scratches to the kitties, please

I actually bought a pill gun off Amazon that works so awesome!

TAOZUA Pet Pill Dispenser, Pet Piller Gun Oral Tablet Capsule,Silicone Syringes for Cats, Dogs and Small Animals https://a.co/d/cy8ek6S

But these tablets are MASSIVE! I am supposed to give her 1/4 of a tablet. I bought a pill splitter/crusher 2 months ago which was life changing for splitting and crushing the hyperthyroidism meds (and splitting the massive antiviral tables also).

And I actually just fed it to her by hand. Took it pretty easily. It was too big for the pill gun. Thanks for letting me know about feeding it on an empty stomach - it didn’t say that on the bottle, so I’m gonna give it to her halfway between both feedings.

Glad you found one that works for you!!

Even better, she ate it for you. Are you kidding me?!?!? LOL, whoo hoo, Petunia.

I wonder why only 1/4th? Hmm, did you get the cat size? Yes, they are large-coated pills. I pray she doesn't have any issue with it.

So you had me questioning what the vet gave me. The brand is denamarin and the one they gave me where chewable tablets that are labeled for dogs. I called the vet and the person on the phone spoke with the doctor and they said it is totally safe for cats. I also asked him if it’s okay that give it to her whole, since it is a chewable, and he said that was okay as well. He mentioned that he remembers someone else calling in with the same question, but that he didn’t remember what he told them, so that is why he went back and asked a doctor.

The 1/4 is based on weight: 7-14lbs.

Here’s the link if you are curious. You might have to click on denamarin Advanced Chewable Tablets:

I also looked at the ingredients and for s-adenosylmethionine, there is 120mg in one tablet, but getting 1/4 gives in 30mg which is what is found in the cat tablet.

And the other ingredient that is in it is silybin-phosphatidylcholine complex, which is milk thistle, a term I know because you mentioned it. That has 30mg in 1/4 of a tablet.

Okay, you have a plan, you have great guidance from the Vet.  Time to trust the plan, relax into it.  Unless there is a specific  obvious reaso n, there is no need to second guess this path forward, just give the plan a chance to work, okay?

So sweet that she took the pill by hand.  Maybe it tastes pretty darn good!

Onward and upward!

Oh, ok, yes, you have a different form!!! Honestly, I did not know there was a chewable until I went to get the same link for you earlier;) I had to take some calls and did not get the chance to post.

Our vet had us get the blue one that was as coated, and you don't cut those & I can't see any furmily eating the one we had. LOL. I'm delighted she likes them! Brilliant! It is going to help Petunia's levels!!!

Well I don’t know about liking them. I don’t think she would ever think to chew them. I just put it in her mouth and she swallowed it. Followed it up with some water.

It is in thats what counts. I was hoping Petunia did enjoy it; regardless, we do what we have to do to help our furmily.

I'm happy to hear you followed with water. I use a churu tube with a little water so it's less risk of aspirating. Works great. Do whatever works for you both!

WOW she ate it? Just like that? Amazing! Really happy that she's cooperating so well. She just knows that these things are good for her. She wants to feel good and be strong!

I do like Holly's idea of using the churu for meds, never thought of that. Aspirating is no fun.

How is the denamarin going? I'm hoping the uncoated one makes all the difference, Im going to ask our vet why this was not mentioned to us when we had such a time with the enteric-coated tablets; Poor Purrkins threw up after every pill. Im thankful we found something he does tolerate.

How did the rehab appt go, and what was the insight on the Gaba low walk?

Hugs
