Great article on Tripawd Cat (front leg amp) It is a great article on Tripawds in General I thought !

I took screen shots so you don't have to go to the site if you don't want to;) But there is a tiny video on there! Be patient on the site it take a few to load;)
I can totally relate to her she is describing Purrkins not disabled but differently ABLE!! Too much so in my view;) I know Purrkins would be on the roof to if he was allowed outside unsupervised! He is high as he can go inside the house!
I also can relate to the "half petrified half proud' yep double sworded but I am always proud after the petrified 😻
Anyway hope you enjoy as I did!
XOXOXO
I've missed you two! I was away for a few weeks (while the Bucketeers were hard at work) and haven't seen you since I got back. I hope everything is okay for you now. Welcome back!
Thanks for the article. That cat sure can fly!! Thankfully Mona doesn't try anything crazy anymore. The worst thing she would do is walk (hop) backwards on a 3" ledge. She had a slip on the headboard on my bed and slide down between the mattress and headboard and couldn't get out. Since I stuck a body pillow in the gap I haven't seen her practicing her backwards maneuver on the balance beam since.
I love seeing how Hero sizes up the height of the door and landing before he launches. I've read that they use lust enough energy and power to reach where they are going and never over shoot. Amazing creatures aren't they?
Hugs to both you and Purrkins!

YAY! What a great article, thank you for sharing Holly! I really appreciate the screen shots as I couldn't get past the second page with the video, which was TOTALLY worth waiting for.
I do think if I saw my Tripawd jump like that I would drop dead of a heart attack! Yikes!

Sometimes it's best not to watch.
After Mona's amputation she continued doing high-dives off the bed. I showed her the boxes might be a safer way to go down. After a few more high-dives with near face plants she decided chairs and boxes were better.
I believe Purrkins still goes above the fridge. Does he still get down using the counter and then stairs?

Great share! As for the "psychological distress" point, I think only the humans feel psychological distress! The cats certainly experience some physical distress, but it's short term, unlike the long term distress of having a 'bad' limb or a cancer, and that physical distress is so treatable.
It makes me sad that people would choose to euthanize over amputate, but I guess it's the other side of the coin of the way we people anthropomorphize all things (great article in the NY Times recently about talking to your pets, and how it's a sign of human intelligence!). We assume that they are like us, and would experience the same psychological issues, but they just don't and aren't!
They are also so much more athletic than we are they seem to just figure it out!
Thanks for the reminder
Great article Holly! And love the use of photos to drive home theirnpoint!!
I think kitty Purrkins and kitty Mona shoukd have been asked to include some of their great phitis too!!
Thanks for taking the time to share this.
Lots of love
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Kerren I was actually doing to a blog post on this topic LOL
Purrkins still gets on the cupboards YES!
The boy will not give that spot up, he was sneaking up there ! I tried keeping him off but there is NO point ! That spot is & always has been his favorite lookout spot ! I surrender and let him do what makes him happy! He will do what he wants anyway so I surrendered !
Yep! He jumps up no problem the down I will not allow it to happen! Could he do it ? Sure, but I am not taking a risk on his remaining 3! So the steps come over when he decides to make his move!! He uses them! Before I was physically getting him down.
I have steps on my kitchen counter
and a set to the counter and exercise pads on the fridge as a step!! Royal pain to get around but I just slide them out of the way!
We are actually going to come up with a Purrkins super safe cat highway this winter ! So it is Purrkins & human friendly this situation is not human friendly;) It is Purrkins friendly anyway;)
This spot makes Purrkins happy so he wins;) We bought wood to make a door to keep him out, now the plan has changed we will use the wood to make a Purrkins friendly & human friendly route for him!
Rene Purrkins would give you a heart attack! Yep he is determined to do as he pleases & daily he makes my heart skip a beat!!! 😉
Lots of love to all !
OMD and OMC!!!
The pug and pug mix would kill to have stairs up to the kitchen counter
I have little stairs and steps all over the house, not just for Elly the Tripawd but for Obie the Quadpug. Next time I'm tempted to complain about having to move them around I will think of you Holly and having to move steps to get into the fridge!
Can't wait to see the Perkins super highway.

PURRKINS!!! YOU HAVE YOUR MOMMA WRAPPED AROUND YOUR PAW!!! 🙂 All who want to come back as Holly's cat, raisenp your hamds!! And hands go up all over the world! And just as many of us clamor to be Kerren's cat in our next life!!! 🙂 Talk about devoted..........WOW! 🙂
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Karen for the longest time when I ran into steps in the night I thought of you so we will both be thinking of each other LOL These ones don't make bruises anyway 😉
Yep what we don't do for our animals Only this site would understand the craziness!! The mismatched rugs mats etc. I am so paranoid from losing one cat to a fall so yes we go above and beyond to do what we can to prevent a injury! Absolute worst nightmare !
I have to move steps to open fridge, oven & micro !!! 🙄
Kerren you are lucky Miss Mona is not scaling things really!! It is proud after the petrified too often around here!! I love that he feels he has no limits but for our sanity I wish he realized maybe just maybe thats not such a good idea;)
Sally I'm raising my hand too😉 I wouldn't mind coming back as Purrkins !! They are our children with fur!! I just want him to live happily & do it safely 😻
