Yum Yum continues to do well. She's been off all pain and nerve medications for a week, today marks 21 days since amputation surgery. For the last few days she's been back to completely normal behavioral patterns, including energetic play sessions. Very thankful her recovery has been so smooth.
Yay Yum Yum! One week and no pain medication is a huge hop forward. Being "normal" never felt so good I'll bet!
Now we have to see some of those energetic play sessions on video!!
Keep on truckin, smooth kitty cat 🙂

Another quick update just over 5 weeks post-amputation...
Yum Yum is doing so well. She is even a bit more active than before surgery, seeking us out in the middle of the day for extra play sessions. She's quite adept at frontal one-paw stretches & scratches now. It's entirely possible the fibrosarcoma tumor was causing her some discomfort even though it didn't seem apparent. She's been off all pain meds and nerve blockers for a couple weeks now with no problems.
She sends everyone in the Tripawd community lots of love and purrs.
Yay for Yum Yum! So hoppy to know that she's found her new normal and all sparkly again!
Animals are sooo good at hiding pain, it's remarkable how adept they are at keeping their hurt from us. Cats are masters at it.
If you have time we'd love to see some photos of that frontal one-paw stretch!

I'll try, Jerry, but she's quite quick now! Will add some more photos of her to the album: https://photos......a4CjfGN68A
Hoppy Easter to all who celebrate it this weekend!
Great update for YumYum!!👏👏
And I hope the Easter Bunny brings YumYum lots of goodies....but leave the bunny alone YumYum!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Hello everyone - just wanted to update you on Yum Yum 🙂 She continues to do really well after front leg amputation on Feb 19 2021. Her fur is nearly grown back now. She has been very energetic and playful, even more so than before. Right now she's stretched out in a sun puddle (pic added to album below).
Her adaptation to life as a Tripawd, especially at 14, has amazed us every day. Her mobility is terrific and her nature is sweet and purry as ever. She took slightly longer to come out of hiding after we were away for 3+ weeks in April. (She normally does hide when visitors first arrive). We had to travel to get some health tests of our own done! LOL Friends looked after her and we monitored her on camera so we know she did just fine while we were away. It doesn't surprise me that having 3 limbs might make her feel a bit more vulnerable, so we allow her whatever time she needs to adjust as long as she is eating/drinking/eliminating as usual.
(She has just joined me on my desk to "help" edit this post. Or maybe it's to watch the birds outside. )
We'll continue to monitor and hope that the clean surgery margins means there was no microscopic spread of the fibrosarcoma to her lungs or other organs.

For those of you making tough health decisions for your pets, take some comfort knowing that others have successfully dealt with it, and YOU CAN TOO. Whatever the prognosis or outcome, do your research, listen to the good folks at Tripawds and trust that you are making the best decision for the happiness and comfort of your furry friend.
Purrs and headbonks from Yum Yum!
You just made my day!!! Thank you for this inspiring update!!
And those pictures and videos are adorable! I love the one in her "flag box" where she's sticking her paw out to get the "fuzzy thing". And then watching her play the game where she gets a treat....the blue rhing that at first I thought was a cake!!
Yum Yum, you are such an excellent tripawd role model....and having such good care and good attitude from your hoomans is an extra bonus!!!
Head bumps and purrs right back atcha'

Oh my gosh this is fantastic news! Yum Yum's story is one for the hall of fame, she is the bounce back kitty! Thank you for the great update and letting us know how she's doing. Whenever someone is wondering how their senior cat can do on three legs, we'll share her story. In fact I think I'll make it a Tripawd Tuesday at some point if that's OK by you.
Her album is so much fun. What is this game? How does she like it?

The blue ring is a 3 level cat ball toy I found online. She's always been a ball fan and just loves it. I also bought her a floppy fish but she just gives it the side eye. LOL Ultimately she is a ribbon hunter, that is her ultimate favorite!
Yesterday she jumped up on hubby's armchair and demanded cuddles. They have a routine, she asks and he puts a pillow on his lap and she settles in for scritches. 30 minutes later they were both snoozing. #NotSpoiledAtAll
Yum Yum would be honored to be a Tripawd Tuesday subject.
That's so cool she enjoys the toy, you just never know with cats, they are very particular about toys as you discovered with the floppy fish! I would have thought that toy would make any kitty go bonkers over it but there ya go.
She is spoiled and totally earned it!
I'll post a link when the Tripawd Tuesday goes up. Thanks again for sharing, we are all celebrating for your amazing Yum Yum Trikitty!
