How old is your Tripawd?
8 years old
When and why did your Tripawd lose a leg?
In 2022 we discovered a tumor on his left front leg. We got the tumor removed as it only had a 11% chance of returning. Of course it did. December 8th 2023 his front left leg was removed leaving him cancer free.
How did your Tripawd adapt to life on three? Did the reality match your expectations?
Within less then 24 hours after the surgery he was hobbling slowly. He was going through the dog door and up and down the front steps in the first week. Be adapted so quickly it startled us.
What are your Tripawd’s favorite things to do?
He loves snuggling with people and his older sister buggy, when our college student is home he loves sleepovers in bed with her. Loves walks and car rides to Starbucks for pup cups. His favorite toy is his yellow crayon and could play with it forever.
What is the biggest lesson you learned from your Tripawd so far?
Walter is my best friend in the entire world. He has saved me in every way possible. Watching him work though recovery has been so inspiring to witness and to work through with him. He has always been and always will be my number one.
What is your best advice to someone who is about to go through amputation with their pet, or someone who is thinking of adopting a Tripawd?
They will adapt to their new life. It might take time but it will happen. Its worth seeing them loose a limb rather then loose them entirely. Be greatful for everyday you have with your furry friend. Your animal might be only a chapter in your book of life but to them you are their whole book.
