A friend of mine just got the bad news after seeing the dreaded limp on her 8 year old rotti. I'm trying to help her find a good surgeon if she decides to amputate. A cancerous mass was found in his left shoulder. She is going to get additional xrays done to see if it has already spread into the lungs. Praying it has not. Right now she's in full panic mode. I've been there with my girl Xena so I'm trying to do as much as I can for her right now.
If anyone has a good surgeon recommendation in the Portland OR area please let me know. She wants to do this sooner than later so it doesn't spread more.

I've emailed a friend whose husband is a vet (cat specialty) in the Portland area. I'll post anything she sends me.
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Dr. Melanie McMahon and her staff are amazing!!!! They are at the NW Veterinary Specialists in Clackamas, Oregon (right outside Portland). Their phone number is 503.656.3999. I had two Italian Mastiffs, Max and Chloe with Osteosarcoma. Max was diagnosed late (it presented in his lungs, not his bones, rare) and we lost him within three months. Chloe was diagnosed 6 weeks after we lost Max. It was devastating. Dr. McMahon understood our grief and helped us make a plan for her. Chloe made it 2 years! Dr. McMahon is knowledgable and caring. She takes the time to explain options and helps guide you to make the right decision!!! Her staff is extremely helpful and kind. Those were difficult times for our family, but they helped us through it.
