Hi furry friend lovers,

I am looking to get my dog Koko's front leg removed and wanted to see if anyone had this done at University of Penn or Red Bank Animal Hosp. Any experience in the Philly NJ area at all? PLease and TY!smiley9

Hi Koko, welcome!

Sorry you have to go the amputation route. Rest assured many folks have had great experiences at UPENN and Red Bank. You're lucky to have both as an option! Over the years I can't even begin to tell you how many have had nothing but good things to say about both.

I'd say the biggest differences are that you may get more personalized service at Red Bank, since University hospitals tend to be bigger and you'll have more people working on your case. But, on the flipside, at universities you have more people working on your case and access to more clinical trials. For me, it would come down to that; is there a clinical trial that my dog would have access to at UPENN that he would not have at Red Bank. If that's something you are interested in, it's something to consider.
