Hey everypawdy, look what I found. It's a K9 Fit Bone! I do this every day and this is how I stay strong.

Image Enlarger

The K9 Fit Bone is why I have a six-pack of core muscles!

Image Enlarger

Why is it so great? This is what it does:

  • Stronger hips, knees and core muscles Better lateral balance for good proprioception (the awareness of one’s body in space)
  • Proper stance and better posture
  • Neural stimulation when feet touch the sensory bumps

My mom feeds me my breakfast while I do this. Then she puts it in front of my bowls so I have to stand on it to drink and eat. Working out doesn't get any better!

You can read about exercises and other ways to get fit in our e-book, Loving Life On Three Legs ! And of course if you want to buy a new one visit the Tripawds Gear Blog .

I want your Tripawd to be strong too. If you want this, we'll send it to you free of charge within the continental U.S. All you need for it is an air pump (the typical bike pump ones with a skinny needle).

First one to reply gets it!

Do these only help for rear leg amputees or would it help Murphy, too?

If it would help him, I'd be interested  smiley

My 12yr old Jack Russell terrier is scheduled for a front leg amputation tomorrow (3/16).  I'm trying to do everything I can to prepare both myself and him for this life changing event.  I feel fairly prepared except for knowing how to keep his strength up with exercises after the surgery.  I did read about the FITbone workout but I too wondered if this piece of equipment would work for a front leg amputation.  If not, do you have other suggestions?  As always, thank you for your help.

D'oh! blush Darn gremlins ate Jerry's reply...

In short, yes! The FitBONE will benefit all Tripawds, and any dog when used appropriately.

Stretches performed on the FitBONE help build core strength, develop proprioception , improve balance and make leg muscles stronger.

Front leggers can also stand with rear legs on the FitBONE for front leg weight bearing exercises. Small tripawds can stand with all three legs on the FitBONE.

All in moderation! Start slowly and review many FitPAWS posts and videos for more information and lots of helpful tips.

Those silly Gremlins! laughing

We've been working on stretching and building Murphy's core, so we would love another way to help him.

Awesome. OK Donna, it's got Murphy's name on it. PM me with an address. I'll try to get it out tomorrow.

Hey we're thinking of you today and wishing you all the best. Be sure to start a new topic about your pup (maybe in Size and Age Matters?) so we can follow along OK?

The FITBone went to Murphy, but remember that the Tripawds Foundation will pay for your first rehab visit , so be sure to look into that OK? A rehab therapist can show you all the great ways to keep him fit, as will our e-books library resources. Keep us posted!

Thank you for thinking of us! Things are going well although the first night home was stressful. I did create a post under 'Size and Age Matters' but had difficulty figuring out how to upload a photo/video (I'm not too good with computer stuff).  Tomorrow, I will start my research on "rehab".  smiley

...had difficulty figuring out how to upload a photo/video ...

Here are detailed instructions for adding photos to forum posts . If you don't already share photos online somewhere, you can start a free Tripawds blog any time and upload them there. Need further help? Post in the Tech Support forum and we'll be happy to help!

The easiest way to share videos is to upload them to Youtube first (or Vimeo, etc.). Then you can simply paste the video share link into your forum post and it will auto-embed in your post.
