This afternoon, Dakota decided his potty time was done. And he didn't want help. This involved moving several feet over the snow, sticks and pine cones, hopping up the step into the house (we'd been using a sling for this move), going across the dining room and plopping down onto his bed. Of course he needed a multi-hour nap to recover, but so what?
And tonight he very nearly duplicated the feat. First he lay down in the snow and did a muzzle snow plow out of pure joy, then he got back up and snorted and shook it all off. He got himself up the step again and into the house. At bedtime, when I moved his bed to his usual spot, he hauled himself up and raced across the room to the bed. I know he will learn to moderate his speed and right now momentum is everything. I had to haul you-know-what to keep from being run over.
I don't know when we were prouder: When he came inside on his own or when he peed yesterday. I'll have to think.
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Woohoo! Major happy dance! You go, Dakota.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Oh, you'll soon start to have so many proud moments that you'll need to start one of those kiddie brag books. "Here's Dakota poopin"...."Here's Dakota eating"...."Here's Dakota chewing my hand off again!"..."Here's Dakota chasing sqwirels"....all those proud moments take on extra special meaning now!
Paws up to a great recovery!

That is great! Three cheers for Dakota!
Zack, King of Dogs, 1996 to 2010
Zack lived a full 14 years, even to the end.
The joy and memories he provided us will last a lifetime.
Surviving him is his sister, Izzy, a 12-year-old boxer mix quadpawd.
And the latest addition, Zula, an 11-month-old pit bull mix tripawd.
YAY and Yippy Skippy for Dakota! Excellent news!!!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Welcome Dakota. We'll do whatever we can to make it an easy journey tomorrow. Good luck, and keep us posted in a new discussion thread OK?
