Hi,

Dexter has a movable lump in his neck its on his amp side about 4 inches down from his ear, it must be painful as he yelped
when someone roughly stroked him there.
My Holistic vet says its a node, my vet says its not in a place she would
expect a node to be. It could be an infection so he is on antibiotics to see if it reduces.
They mentioned aspirating it if it remains but I dont see the point as if it doesnt go down it
must be the cancer spread to nodes:(

Does this mean he has go even less time? Help!

However...if you don't aspirate, you will never know. It could be something else entirely, and removing it could alleviate his pain. I'm not a vet, and that is just my humble opinion, for what it's worth.

Kathi

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Hang tight, about 95 percent of the times we've seen this happen here it's a benign lump of some sort. I hope with all I've got that it's the same for Dexter.

I would get that lump aspirated, don't wait. Here are some guidelines from Dr. Dressler (the Dog Cancer Vet) about how long to watch & wait.  Remember, information is power and it will give you the ability to decide what, if anything you want to do about it.

Keep us posted!

Thanks, I was told it could be spread from the osteosarcoma what do I do if it comes
back with cancer cells in his lymph nodes. Is that treatable? Thanks:)

From what we have seen here, osteo usually doesn't reappear in that manner. Of course that's not to say it can't, cancer often does what it wants, but really the best thing to do right now is to not think the worst until you know exactly what you're dealing with. I know that's so hard! The only way to know what it is, is to get it aspirated.

This journey can be so darn scarey soetimes! Of course you already know that!

And you also know that when s e little "issue" pops up, if it were not for this piece of crap disease, you wouldn't be worrying much at all! It probably is NOTHING! REALLY! Okay, I'm NO vet and I'll probavly get blasted for saying this...again, I'm nlt a vet (that way they can't "blast" me but so much!)...
but I was a.ways u der the impression that if a bump was under the skin and wiggled, that was a "good" kind of bump!

B R E A T H E.......B R E A T H E.........And "try" not to jump ahead to the "what ifs".....right NOW, what you KNOW is the vet doesn't think this is anything to be concerned about! I think the vet probavly has a little mre expertise in where in where nodes are located. If the vet doesn't think it's a node, I would think that's accurate! IF it does turn out to be "something", you WILL come up with a treatment plan!

Dexter is feeling great and doing really well! That's HUGE!! Now, go back to the BREATHING thing.....yeah...really.....B R E A T H E! Dexter is doing fine and he has NO intention of going anywhere anytme soon!!

Stay here with us, okay? We've got to have pictures of this sweet boy! Have you figured out how to post yet? We'd love to see him!

Hugs and love to all!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Yes I see the similarity its in the eyes. so cute:)

I will try and post more of him getting around.

Pictures hold such lovely memories, and posting pics of Dexter helps me cope with his illness as no cancer can take his image away and a picture captures their personality too!
