The day after Bruno left us, we found Rufus- another Rottie at the ripe age of 2.5 years old. Now, at almost 8 year old, he started limping around September 20, 2017. I took him for xrays September 27, 2017. The vet left a message September 28th to call so we can make a plan.  The radiologist said early signs of osteosarcoma. Yesterday I booked an appointment to meet with an oncologist on October 24th. Tomorrow he'll get chest xrays. His limp has doubled in exaggeration and I gave him more pain meds. I'd like to push for amputation since Rufus is full of life. I don't think he'll make it to see the oncologist so I'm going to ask my vet to take the lead. Stay tuned for updates. [Image Can Not Be Found]

Oh Char I'm really sorry! It's crazy how many dogs get this disease.

You are that much wiser and stronger though since you got the same news about Bruno. No doubt you and Rufus have an advantage there and acting quickly as you're doing will help him kick cancer's butt.

Keep us posted OK? We've had a few website changes since you've last been here so if you have any questions let us know OK?

And for new folks, Bruno's entire story is chronicled here.

Char, I just wnet back and read every single word you wrote about your sweet Bruno.  Your love for that sweet boy came shining through.

I smiled as I read about how he bounced like a polar bear in ice.    And I sat here and cried as I read that you asked Bruno to wait until Thursday.  He did.  And then Friday came and he reminded you his task here on earth was done and you gave him the greatest gift of love you could give him.  You released Bruno from pain.  As others said so well, you traded his pain for your pain.

Absolutely stay on top of your Vet to get that appointment moved up!!   If it's the same Vet who knows Bruno's history I would think they will be determined to get that appointment moved up!!!  Is there anyone else Rufus can xee sooner?

Ler us kniw how things go tomorrow with the preliminary work up.  I'm just so sorry you are having to deal with this again.  I do know you have a goo Guardian in Bruno!!

In the meantime, we need pictures of this big voy Rufus!!!  And some of Bruno too!!   We'll be watching for them! 🙂

Love and hugs

Hi Rufus and Char 🌷

I haven't had the pleasure of "meeting" Bruno, my girl was diagnosed April 2016 and earned her wings June 12th 2017 🕊🐮🕊

I want to tell you me, too, will be following your journey with Rufus and sending all the pawsitive energy I can master 🌈

Bruno and Eurydice are surely keeping an eye for you and your boy from above too 💕🕊🕊💕

You are very wise moving the appointment and acting right now.

Sending you a big hug and tons of cuddles to your boy 😘😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

Just read your thread, gosh ... I am so sad you couldn't get rid of his pain and your journey was so short ...

But you'll be able to help Rufus now and the Tripawd family is still here for you both 💗

I got furious again with photobucket, they removed all of Bruno's pictures 😡

Lots of kisses and cuddles flying your way 😘😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Thanks Jerry. It was a little difficult to navigate the website. I'm just now figuring it out.

I wasn't sure if my Rufus post made it or not.

Thank you for adding Bruno 's link. I'll go check it out- it'll be great for memory. I told my husband that we need to talk about Bruno often so I don't forget. I feared as time went on I'd forget so I didn't hurt. But this hurt of a few days should not ruin my years of happiness and I want the happy memories to rule!

I wanted to share a pic of Rufus while camping last weekend, but I'm still figuring out this newer site configuration. Thanks for your kind words of Bruno and reminding me of his polar bear pound- so cool.

everyone! You all are the best. I don't want to be friends on here, but I'm back and you guys are so nice! Tears, tears, tears! Sweaty armpits! ugh! Awwww! Thank you! Now I see that I need to be on here during my life to help others. The support from tripawd parents is invaluable! More tears. Thank you and now I see the value to pay it forward.

Rufus will get amputated Monday! Chest xrays were clear. My vet offered to give what ever meds to keep him comfortable until my oncology appointment 10/24/17and I pushed for surgery and got scheduled! I wish it would be today. Poor guy is limping badly. For sure - hopping on 3 will be better than limping on 4.

I switched from 75mg rimadyl to oxycodone 5mg. Doc gave Vicodin script, but i didn't fill it since I'd like to use what I have on hand first and the plans have changed to get amputated Monday.

Ill try to figure how to post pics. I'm on a cell phone

Coming back to write  .ore later, but just wanted to give you a quick link that "may" help for photos. A d yes, tavlets, some phones, a droid, etc don't necessarily play nice with this site.

adding images

You do have tompost them on a site like Igmur, or something like that first.  Then you copy from there to here.

I'm sorry you are headed down this road again.

A week before Tripug Maggie finished her chemo for mast cell cancer her little sis Tani was diagnosed with mast cell cancer.  Turns out pugs are prone to mast cell like so many breeds are prone to OSA.  Cancer sucks!

I hope tomorrow goes well for Rufus, keep us posted.

Tri-pug Maggie survived a 4.5 year mast cell cancer battle only to be lost to oral melanoma.
