sooo.. question.. has anyone had of or heard of excessive tooth chips or weakening from chemotherapy. Neka is on her 3 tooth chip and her 2nd within 2 weeks.. And to my nervousness one is her upper canine, Im like really.. cooomee on....
I am beginning to wonder if the chemo in her system is causing deficiencies. Of course I asked about it and really didnt give an answer. Early on I had asked about adding vit C because of a cancer dogs system on chemo probably is going to be difficient and some things Ive read.. ( cancer survival..) but speaking to an oncologist.. stated he doesnt see it.. Later..--NOW--- im thinking... well did you ever check to seee if there was deficiencies...
My concern.. are all of her teeth now going to be prone to chipping,. breaking.. I mean her canine damn near broke in half.. I dont even know how to treat it.. extraction.. its soo huge..will her lip fold in or change her profile.... or root canal... in that case if her teeth are weak could it tolerate one, without breaking furthur.. its bad enough I have to put her under again... I want to get the most out of it...
uug...

Awww poor Neka and her pearly whites!
Hmmmm...I haven't had a chance to search the Forums yet but I believe I may have read about someone in the past who experienced this. When you search for "chemotherapy side effects teeth" you do get human-centric search results like this. I imagine it's the same for dogs. Dang wish I had better answers for you! Hopefully someone will. I'll put this out on social media and see if anyone has feedback.

I was talking with Admin last night about Neka, and he brought up an important point: chemotherapy weakens bones. Therefore, since teeth are essentially comprised of the same material, they too are likely to be affected. I wonder if a bone-building drug like bisphosphonates could help? I'm going to pose this question to the oncos we know on social media, someone's got to have an answer and a tip for strengthening the teeth. Stay tuned.

Oh my gosh, why didn't j think of that!!!???..
Uug...so I'm on the right tract..but yeah I will look into the product u mentioned. I already desiderate to stop regular chemo last week, we'll probably do 1 more ECT..but that's only incision all injected. Just mayb metronome now, I feel we are there and totally at peace.
So here's my concern, I know a canine dentist will say don't pull tooth, do root canal, regular vet will probably say pull it. All these conflicting suggestions.
Its such a large tooth, but I don't want it to b a problem later as she ages. Any other tooth, well except lower canines, I would b so worried abt ..but uug come on..
Thoughts on this?

Boy, I'm no dentist, only they can give you their opinion. And really that's what it is. If it's something that's hurting her, of course take care of it, but the only way to find out is to see a specialist. I know, another specialist right?!
