Finally, Louie pooped on his own this morning and didn't seem to have any problem with balance or anything 🙂  so proud of my boy!! Also when it was time to bring him in he kept lying down and rolling over on his back refusing to go back in the house. I have horses in the backyard and needed to feed them and clean the stalls so I decided to leave Louie in the shade if he wanted to stay out and proceeded to the barn. Let me tell you that my barn is about 400 feet behind my house and when I turned around Louie was hopping after me as fast as he could! He would stop and lie down and rest and then get up and hop some more until he made it all the way back to the barn where he proceeded to greet all the horses like he used to every day and then lie down on the barn floor while I cleaned the stalls. Afterwards he was just so exhausted that I decided to put him in the car and drive him back to the front yard where the ramp to the house is. Nope......he wanted no part of it! My gladiator dog,my hero, wanted to walk on his own all the way back to the house!! He hopped and rested, hopped and rested, hopped and rested some more, barely made it up the ramp and proceeded to lie down on the kitchen rug where he promptly fell asleep and has remained snoring loudly 🙂  He  was always my body guard, always my shadow, and today he was determined to resume that role. What great big hearts our tripawds have!  What heroes they all are! My eyes are full of tears and my heart is so full of pride!!

Way to go Louie!!!  I'm just smiling wide reading about his determination...it's so inspiring!!!

I'm not sure how far out from the surgery Louie is but if he's still within that 2 week recovery period just be careful that Louie doesn't over do it.  Reading how determined he is I have no doubt it will be tough but you really don't want any setbacks in recovery since he seems to be doing so amazing right now!

Great Job Louie...clapclapclap

And then, on top of that, you got up on your own and pranced your big self off to the barn AND back!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR LOUIE!!!!

This just makes my day....my week....my year!!! We knew you could do it Louie, you just needed a little rime! Now don't be overdoing it, okay? Those big muscles of yours still need to do some adjusting. It's wonderful that you took little breaks while you were on your morning outing.....oooo important!

Seeing return to REGULAR routines, including pooping, makes it all worth it!! What used to be taken for granted now brings us unbridled joy! We really learn so much on this journey! To "Be More Dog " is one of the greatest lessons. Louie is living in the moment, not worrying about a thing just getting on with life!!

And Sue, vood for you for hanging tough!!! It's not easy believing everything will turn out okay when we can't "see" it. STANDING OVATION FOR YOU AND LOUIE!!!clap

Still doing the hopoy dance over here! Loving this post...and love to Louie and his hu.a s!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I'm so so pleased for you and Louie. What a trooper!

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

Thanks everyone! Yes I am quite afraid of Louie overdoing it! He is only 9 days from the day of his amputation so not 2 weeks yet. I will make sure to keep him quieter and not let him do so much till we see the vet for suture removal and see what he says. 🙂
