Casey had his 2nd chemo on Wed. 1/18 of vinblastine. He's been doing great then all of the sudden this afternoon it seems he was having trouble swallowing, I thought maybe he inhaled a piece of chicken I gave him and it went down wrong. I gave him a little goat yogurt in case that would help it go down, and he drank a little water. He did eat a little dinner but has seemed uncomfortable since. He did just go out to poo and pee thankfully. Has anyone else had this happen suddenly? The vet said sometimes day 4 or 5 post chemo might show this, he's moaning a little. I gave him homeopathic for nausea. Just feeling scared and worried. I'll be calling the vet first thing in the morning.

While a temporary of appetite can sometimes occur, not sure about the pain signs or the "swallowing" issues. . I did do a google search and saw that jaw pain and mouth pain may occur.and that may explain why it appeared he had a hard time swallowing maybe. Of course take "Dr Googgle" fwiw.
Anyway, definitely speak to your Onco and let us know what the result was, okay? I'm sure it can be managed.

Oh gosh poor Casey. It sounds like maybe some post op-intubation irritation? I don't know, I'm not a vet so hopefully your vet has some answers and suggestions. Let us know. Oh and if any nausea signs do continue (lip licking, drooling, no appetite) ask about Cerenia or Odanseteron, both are really good anti-nausea medications.

Thanks Jerry, I saw the same info on google. He was much better yesterday morning. 3rd chemo is tomorrow so I will be discussing with the doc. She is not an oncologist but they consult with CSU vet oncologist on his treatments. I feel comfortable with her and she did his amputation.

WHEW! So glad he's better now. And at least your next appointment is tomorrow so you can get some feedback on what might have caused the swallowing problem.
Pretty cool they consult with CSU they are amaaaaazing!
