Well, it has been over just over 4 months since Bailey had her right back leg amputated and I am happy to say that she is still kickin' cancers butt!!! Her last check-up ultrasound and radiographs were clear! We are continuing with metronomic chemotherapy and have been thrilled with how things are going. Bailey still amazes me with how resilient she is! I am so glad she is still with us and that we made the choices we did for her!
Bailey has been back in full action taking on the hiking trails with us this spring. We also took her to the lake earlier this month. One of her favorite things is being on the lake in the fishing boat. I always giggle when I put her little life jacket on her, cuz she is so cute in it. If I figure out how to post pics on here, then I will post pictures sometime.
Something that I did not have to think about prior to her surgery was how important her leg & foot were for cleaning her ears. She loves having her ears scratched (what pup doesn't) and I would always check her ears and she kept them clean all on her own. But, once she couldn't scratch her right ear on her own, I started to notice it was getting a little gunky. At first I thought something was wrong, then I realized it was because she could not scratch it on her own anymore. But, I found these ear cleaning wipes at the store and they have worked great to help me keep her ear clean. Needless to say, this has all been an interesting learning process for all of us, for sure.
It is funny how those sweet, loving little furballs of ours can put things in our life into perspective! We are all blessed to have them in our lives!
Stay strong and keep fighting the big C!

Woo hoo! agood news post! Way to go Bailey!
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Mylisa and Bailey I'm so hoppy about your update! What fantastic news, life is good!
The photos are so cute. Where is the lake?
Oh yes, we know about the ear itch thing. Our Wyatt Ray and his big satellite dish ears need a lot of massaging from us since he can't scratch his right one too.
I know who's gonna be swimming like crazy this summer! Good move to use a life jacket on her, they are so helpful aren't they?

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
Love the pictures Bailey. Great to hear a good update Sassy knows all about the ear stuff too. What was the name of the ear wipes? We usually use a warm wash cloth then a dry one to make sure its all dry.

To answer a couple of questions:
The lake is Bull Shoals in Arkansas. We live in Missouri and have been going to this lake once a year for the past several years. Bailey loves it. She also loves her life jacket because she knows when I put it on it means we are getting into the fishing boat and she is ready for a good time!!!
The ear wipes are called Grooming Ear Wipes from Petco. They are small disposable wipes that come in 100 count. I was surprised Bailey didn't mind me using them on her since she is always a bit weary of anything new that I do to her (which has been a lot of new stuff in the last 4 months), but she actually seems to like it. So, that has made it easy.
Cheers!!!- Mylisa & Bailey
Well what a fun place to head out on the lake, it looks sooo nice. We want to head out that direction someday, we've heard it's really pretty.
