Its just under 3 weeks since TJs right front leg was removed due to OS.  He's been up and down for the last week but today was the first day I can say that my TJ was 100% TJ... I came home from work and he was laying out in the yard sunbathing... in his old spot (where he can see the cars come down the hill) and as soon as I parked he jumped up, ran to the gate and gave me those famous slow rolling TJ barks.

IT WAS GLORIOUS!

We then went for a walk (about 3/4ths a block... he still gets tired quick) but I didn't have to carry him back and now he's barking at Yeager because he finished his rawhide and wants more.

Thanks to all for helping me with my questions about this stupid disease, and letting me know that there is still a lot of dog left in these critters even with cancer.

yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!  High fives with 3 paws!!

that is good to hear..   it is such an overwhelming joy in our hearts and we love them even more when we see that spark come back into their eyes and they become that happy dog again.

I remember that with my Franklin...  I'm so glad that you are experiencing it with TJ!!

Christine... with Franklin in her heart ♥

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

I'm so happy for you and TJ. You're about a week or so ahead of us in terms of recovery. Looking forward to a 100 % good day AND night over here too. Each day gets a little easier :)

Barret was diagnosed with Hemangiopericytoma May 16, 2013. Front left leg/scapula/pectoral muscle was amputated on June 11, 2013 and we've never looked back. Follow our story on http://barret.t.....pawds.com/ and read my column on That Pet Blog

Congratulations!

Sometimes it seems like things will never be normal again, but when you get there it is, well, GLORIOUS!

TJ has figured out that he can't 'walk' like he did before... his pace is faster and that seems to help a lot with his mobility.  He kinda does a bunny hop-walk but it works for him.

I crack up when he hops because his tongue is slapping him up side the head... after a good walk his face is slobbered up from hitting himself.

That is the best visual ever! So glad TJ is getting back into the groove of things!

Barret walks pretty good, but we only get to the end of the block before he is tired and ready to go back. Baby steps :)

TJ is at about 3/4ths the way around the block.  I think he is simply taking advantage of me at this point because when I want to turn around (he's been carried home enough this month) he plops down in protest.  I'm sure my neighbors think I am nuts every time I carry him home... but he's 7 pounds lighter now.. that helps.

When I take him up the mountain things are much different.  He goes much longer and when I turn around to head back he's right with me.... When I take the two of them its like he's not even missing a leg.  Other than helping him in/out the back seat.

Yayyyy for TJ!

I'm pretty sure that Barret is taking advantage of the situation as well. He has learned that anytime he makes a whimper or a sigh that we'll go RUNNING to comfort him.. I think he is whimpering a little more than necessary now. Again, last night it was raining, he just stood in the doorway and looked at me with those sad eyes... I left him inside and made my other two go out,  hehe. He is learning to rule the roost, uh oh!
