Susie is celebrating her one-month Ampuversary! She is definitely getting better--and feeling stronger! She is hopping along quite well on her solitary front leg, but cannot yet go up and down stairs. The Gabapentin she's taking has greatly alleviated her Phantom Limb Pain, so she (and I) are getting more rest at night! Am pretty sure I'm not going to opt for chemo, as her cancer is so rare that there've been no clinical studies and there are no protocols. For now, I'm just planning to love her and keep her as comfortable as possible for the rest of her life--and I hope that it will be a long one! She is quite camera-shy, but I managed to take a few pics through the glass door leading onto the deck this afternoon before she noticed me.

Oh, thank you, Sally! Susie will use any excuse to go shopping, so I'm sure we'll be paying a trip to a pet shop--or two--or three very soon!

OMG ... I LOVE HER!!!! Happy ONE MONTH! The sparkle is back and that is great news! She looks amazing ... so comfortable in her new physique!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Oh, Alison, thank you so much!
Yes, she's been wearing that Thundershirt since she came home from the hospital. It has really saved the day, because all the Cones of Shame I tried either freaked her out or made her so depressed she wouldn't eat, go potty, or even walk. She hasn't ever bothered her incision while wearing that Thundershirt, which is such a miracle! The vet told me to leave it on her until her scabs fall off. And since it's cold outside, it does double-duty by keeping her warm. (Triple-duty, really--since I think it makes her feel more secure.)
