Boy do I know the frustrations of getting a Westie to eat!!! I practically have to stand on my head to get Kodi to eat.....which nobody believes when they look at his 29lb self big-grin

Paula and Nitro (and Westie Kodi)

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

In a lot of ways you're so lucky that she doesn't have a voracious appetite! Consider it a bonus now that she's on three.

Awesome to know she's eating again. Perhaps it was just the disruption of her normal food that she didn't like, and now she doesn't have to worry about pills getting in the way of savoring her meals. Who knows, just glad she's eating again. Congrats and welcome to the new normal!

Paula, I'm glad you said that, because I always wondered if it was a "female dog" thing, since my other dogs have always been male, and were all VERY food-motivated. And then along comes Susie, who would rather do just about anything than eat. You can't bribe or tempt her with even the finest delicacies! Hot dog? Nope. Cheese? Double nope. Pizza? Uh-uh. Prime rib? No, thank you.

But maybe it's a Westie thing. (She's my first Westie, too, although I've had a Cairn and three Yorkies--one of those Yorkies would do just about anything for just one Cheerio!) When I posted on FB that Susie was still expecting me to feed her by hand, even though it had been over a month since her surgery, someone replied, "Well, of course, she expects to be fed by hand! She's a Westie!"  winker

Rene, I totally understand why the surgeon cautioned me not to let Susie put on weight, but if I ever saw this finicky pup turn into a "voracious eater," I'd faint dead away! winker
