She's shivering but it's not cold inside, any ideas?

Mel is starting a fire in the wood stove. We are a week post surgery now. The incision looks fine.

Hmmm...usually a sign of a bit of pain.  Any other "symptons"?  Ears pinned back head dropping, tail drooping, etc?

ny chancr of tweaking a muscle?

Meant to ask what pain meds shesw still on.  One week out from amp is still early and she  can certainly still hurt.

Thanks! I had a 'chat' with Jerry, he seems to think pain as well. We've had a mellow couple days, but the incision seems to be bothering her.

The shivering seems to have eased, scary while it lasted! I'll call the vet in the morning.

Stella just had that one episode that we observed. The vet is having us increase her gabapentin dose, keeping the carprofen as it was. I think we just have to get over this hump!

It was tough leaving her home alone yesterday! But, when I got home she was comfortably settled on the couch, haha, her head on the pillow! She got up and was happy to see me... went out, then back to resting until my husband got home. Rest seems to be the order of the day!

How's your girl doing, better? I believe you're at "that" stage in the rollercoaster of recovery. Managing her pain and progress can be a little tricky. Anesthesia is all gone, regulating pain meds, sutures or staples getting itchy. Watching to make sure she's healing properly. It's all good, just gonna be stressful. Stay tuned in, we'll help as much as we can, soon this will be behind you. With people like Teresa and Sally and everybody else,  you can't go wrong heart💕

Stella is doing pretty well, although she's clearly still in the itchy and pulling stage of the healing process. She wants to lick at it! The t shirt helps.

Sutures and staples come out in two days... It will be good to have the vet take a look at it, but I'm hoping I don't have to watch the removal process! I'm not generally squeamish, but the thought of that just gives me shivers!

She's getting around very well at this point. We had our first snow, about five inches, and it's good to see she can manage that okay.

That's great news! I cannot say for sure, but most will just take them in back for staple removal. It is generally not awful, usually pretty quick and simple process. She will continue to want to lick at it until the incision is healed. Keep it covered whenever she might lick at it, the little scabs drove Huck nutty, lol. I am glad she is doing well clap

Our family is back together, and I can't express how good it feels!!! Our (inside) cat Sampson slipped out 9/26 while work was happening at the house... I put flyers in all the neighbors mailboxes, and today we got a miracle! A neighbor about a quarter mile through the woods sent me a picture of a cat her husband had been feeding a few days... and it was our Sampson! He rode home on my lap, purring. 74 full days away, and now he's cuddled on his favorite fuzzy blanket on the couch.

There has been so much stress in the household lately... Sampson missing, my husband losing his job, Stella's diagnosis and surgery. Today I am so grateful for the way things have turned - Sampson is home, Mel has a new job, and Stella is healing. I feel so lucky and full... all I'm doing is shedding happy tears.

Stella even did fine with the new snow!

(((HUG)))) I am so very happy for you. You must have been a MESS with your kitty getting out, I know I would have been way-confusedNow life can finally start to get back to the new normal for you all 🙂 🙂 Breathe... Stella will probably give you a few more heart failures, but soon those nasty staples will be out, her incision will be healed, and she will be able to go back to being her "new" normal self. So nice to see it all coming together!!

heartheart

The band is back together again and all is well. YAY! So glad to hear Sampson found his way home and Stella's stitches are history in just a bit. I think you'll find that once the staples and stitches are gone all of you can enter this new phase of celebrating and moving on. The scariest part is behind you. YAY! clap
