After X-rays and exam it's seems poor Snoop has done some damage to area between vertebra 5 and six, inflammation, and calcification. So were on a program of tramadol and predisone, the predisone will start on Thurs am ,and his other meds are to be discontinued as of now. Good news no evidence of any tumors or metastasis to other legs. So we should hopefully see improvement within a week. If not , will address with different meds. He still needs to be kept contained and quiet R &R for 4-6 weeks.
My heart breaks because he's in good discomfort but I'm thankful for this news. He'll get better, so I think we got good news and we'll take one day at a time. (Believe me I find this easier to say after getting the good news. I'm not as tough as I try to convince myself.) I also think that when something happens to any of our babies , it scares the heck out of you.

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes for the Snoops. He and we appreciate it so so much.

Whew! Yay for a diagnosis, and yeah, I totally agree, at least it's not that diagnosis so it's definitely a reason to be glad for things, even though it's tough to know he's got a recovery ahead. Funny the things we are grateful for when cancer is always lurking around. I'm glad you've got a good treatment plan for him, Pred definitely has its place.

OK Snoops, no more crazy wrasslin around you hear? Take it easy my friend and get well soon.

Phew ... a collective sigh of relief! While pain is never good I am happy to learn it isn't the horrible C back again! Rest, rest and more rest and Snoops will be back to normal soon!

Will continue to send you some healing energy and love!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Good news overall I think.

If Snoop's issues turn to arthritis (sounds like some already?) you might consider adequan.  It's an injected anti-inflamatory that has done wonders for quad-pug Tani who as terrible arthritis in her back and all four legs.  However, it doesn't work for every pup and is expensive.  Just something to put in your back pocket if the need arises.

In the meantime I hope the meds kick in and I hope Snoop recovers quickly.

Esther

I'm so glad to read this update on Snoops.

Treatment of rest, relaxation and pain meds/NSAIDS sounds much better than some of the other alternatives.

Hugs to all of you

Esther,

Thank Heavens it's not cancer. Now he has to learn meditation and chill but he can do it.

+1 on what everyone else said, Esther. Thinking of you and Snoop and sending hugs!

Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes for the Snoops. He's coming along it seems. He's certainly more comfortable, so we are looking forward to a good steady recovery. He's in a crate, which he's not a happy camper about but he's staying nice and quiet (like he has a choice!) so three more weeks and counting!

And it's clear by looking at this thread that I didn't get my "PLOP, PLOP, FIZZ, FIZZ...OH WHAT A RELIEF IT IS!" post submitted! Yeah, many people would feel "down" aojt the news....but not us tripawd people! Heck no!! We're thrilled!!

I know this is very frisgrating for you---and sweet Snoops! I know he mjst jate that crate! But also, I know tjat on some level, he knows this is for his well-being.

Give yourself a "spa day" and step awah from it all for jist a few brief hours. You sooooo deserve a little pampering!

Sending you love and hugs!

So glad to hear he's taking it easy and learning to chill. How is he reacting to the Prednisone, if at all?

And yeah, this has gotta be really making you both craaaaazy. It's so hard to be a good patient.
