Are there any signs for when your dog develops lung mets? I am sooooo hoping that it is too soon for lung mets for Bo, but I know that every case is different and you just never know. I think I'm being a little paranoid, and jumping at every little snort, but I guess that is part of it for being a fur-parent.

With both of my pups, we never went through lung mets - but I woould guess maybe labored breathing would be one sign. What makes you think lung mets? I'm sure you'll hear from others who have/are going through it now.

Cooper started off with somewhat labored breathing, and a light non productive cough. Hopefully Bo is just having allergy symptoms.

Why do you think Bo could have mets? What kind of behavior is he exhibiting?
Yes, every dog is different. Most dogs with osteosarcoma have mets at the time of diagnosis, they're just too small to see on an x-ray. We can live a long, long time without having them affect us.
Symptoms can range from mild:
- persistent, dry cough
- labored breathing
- lethargy
to extreme:
- coughing up blood
- not eating
In my case, I didn't show any symptoms that the mets were growing, none at all. It caught my pawrents by surprise 17 months after my diagnosis. But when they did get larger, my own behavior included a persistent dry cough, labored breathing and just a general tiredness. I was still happy but I didn't want to walk as far or play as long as I could before.

Bo has been panting a bit lately, but it is really hot down here in Florida. Yesterday, after he got out of the pool, he did a weird snorting noise and then again after he ate dinner. Definitely not a coughing sound though. It was just unusual and I am probably a little jumpy after getting the unexpected cancer diagnosis.
Allergy symptoms would make sense though...he's been rolling around the yard a lot the past couple of days. Which just brings the biggest smile to my face. 🙂

Sorry to hear about Bo not feeling up to snuff lately. Fur-parenting is hard on the nerves! Maybe it's allergies or a bug in the throat!
If you are worried, you can get xrays. That will put your mind at ease. And if by chance he has them, then you can get him on steroids or whatever course you choose to hopefully help slow the growth.
