We're glad to hear Shelby's home!  Holly had those "spooked" episodes, too.  She would be resting and all of a sudden jump up and try to run across the room.  It didn't last too long for Holly - each episode only lasted a few minutes and she only had them for a few days.  It seemed to help her to ice her incision - somehow that seemed to comfort her.  We wrapped a bag of frozen peas in a soft kitchen towel and gently put it on her incision site.  I'm not sure if that might help Shelby, but it might be worth a try.

Hugs!

Holly, Zuzu and Susan

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Thanks for the input.........vet is calling in Gabepentin (sp).  I was a bit leery of upping the Tramadol, even though she's had seemingly no reaction, but I did follow Doc's initial suggestion of upping it 25 mg.  Just didn't seem to help the periodic outburst and painful scream and the trying to run away.  Also did the cold compress.....thanks for all the suggestions.

So her prescription is being compunded at Walgreens right now and I'll pick it up in a while.

Until then, I've dragged the cushions off the leather couch and laid them on top of a sheet on the floor.....and I'm trying to snooze in front of her little ex-pen.

The things we do for love.............but they're so worth it, aren't they?
