Shelby is home.......sigh. She's doing amazingly well but I also realize that she's pumped full of adrenilin because she's home with her fursiblings and she's H-O-M-E. Taking it easy and slow. I think keeping her from overdoing it will be the challenge.
How wonderful to see her and know that awful pain is gone!
Woooo hooo!
Yes, keep her from overdoing it. Too much activity can lead to a nasty, icky seroma (leakage everywhere...gross!). Many dogs are really amped up when they come home, as they still have pain meds coursing through their system. Then, typically they have a hard crash the next day, which is even harder if they were doing too much when they first came home.
Take it easy, and celebrate that you both made it past this big hurdle! Cheers to you both!

Yea for Shelby's homecoming!! It must be so wonderful to see her. I think of our new tripawds as our miracle furbabies after having endured a major surgery like this one. We'll be keeping our paws crossed that Shelby continues to do well. Best of luck with everything!
Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
So glad to hear Shelby is home. Keep her from over doing it! Easier said than done, I know. Keep us informed.
Debra & Angel Emily
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.

Such wonderful news that Shelby is doing so well. Don't forget to rest when she rests. Fight that urge to stay awake and watch her sleep. The voice oif experience can tell you, you won't hold up long on no sleep.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

I see her! YAY! (hit refresh and you'll see her too!)
Oh, goodie gum drops! I'm glad she is doing well and is safe at home where she belongs!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I see her too (after a refresh)!! She looks so happy to be home.
Keep on healing, Shelby!!
Cemil and mom Mary, Mujde and Radzi….appreciating and enjoying Today

She was a bit whiney last night and kept waking me up......but I suspect that was more from her being enclosed in a small ex-pen than anythng. She was out and about on the floor with the other girls for part of the evening, but under close supervision. Kona, Phoebe & Frankie sniffed at her, Phoebe licked her head and Kona wouldn't leave her side...but aside from the brief "hey, you smell different" it's business as usual around here in their mind.
You just gotta love these 3 and 4-legged souls, you know?
I am exhausted this morning and after breakfast will try to rest some more.....thanks for all the encouragement. I felt prepared and confident and that's thanks to all of you!!
And you too Spirit Jerry and your TriPawd angels 🙂
glad to hear shelby is home!! home is for healing!!! her new picture is great, and it's good to hear her fur siblings are taking such good care of her too!! get some rest, you're gonna need it!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.

She has seemingly developed a seroma ......it's not ulcerated and I've tried hot compresses but I think a call around 900AM to the vet is in order.
I wish I could push a button and their breakfasts would make themselves..........(hey, a girl can dream, right?)
we used bags of frozen peas, wrapped in a kitchen towel, to help when gayle got one...a call to the vet is always a good idea this early in!!
