Well, Sally I won't say that has or hasn't ever happened, but I was just letting him in when he came home for lunch!  We live on 30 acres among 1,000's of trees, so rather secluded.  I tease my husband and say we built a house and moved out here from town for Bailey to have room to run and play.  Actually, partially true. She has chased deer, squirrels, raccoons, caused an Opossum to play possum and got on the wrong end of a skunk (that smell lasted for close to a year every time she got wet) and is an excellent snake finder.
