Hi -
My tripawd dog is currently part of a clinical trial receiving chemotherapy and lately I've noticed a few odd scabs on him in various places. I noticed one again last night by his ear. I am not sure what causes the sores and I don't notice the sore until it has a scab on it and I can feel it while petting him. I am wondering if it may be a side effect of chemo or something else. Has anyone experienced this before?

We did not, but we were also not in a trial - just the standard carboplatin. Have you noticed him scratching? Wondering if it could be an allergy, bug bites, dry skin? Dogs on chemo are also more prone to infection, so maybe something is going on there. Are you finding these shortly after vet visits (wondering if they are from restraints or some sort of medical equipment)? I would definitely talk to your oncologist, especially since you are in a trial (congrats on getting in, by the way!) - they will want to know and you can get proper treatment.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
