And thats just me, I cant imagine how Lola must be feeling. After almost 5 weeks post surgery, fluid still leaking with movement. After her review Monday, we were hopeful that this Friday would be the day the staples could come out. Started weeping again yesterday, rang the vet for advise and was told a pressure bandage will not help and to consider further surgery. She is feelng so much better and wants to play, she must be so confused whenI then put her in a crate. Monday the vet said further surgery would not be benefiial and she would heal in her own time. I dont know what to do, this has been going on so long and the advise seems to be conflicting.
This must be really frustrating. I think most pups on here had stitches removed by 14 days and poor Lola still has her's after a month? I wouldn't think she would still be leaking fluid after this long either. I know some dogs here had to have second surgeries because they had reactions to the internal sutures. Maybe you could ask the vet about that? Or if it was me I would go for another opinion at another vet practice.
I hope Lola feels better soon.

In my opinion, this is NOT normal and needs to be addressed. If you are getting conflicting advice from your vet, it may be time for a second opinion.
From everything you've described, I would be inclined to go in for another surgery to see exactly what is going on and fix it!!!
Right hind limb amputated 7/3/12 for OSA, started on alternating cycles of Carboplatin and Doxorubicin and oral Palladia. Single lung met 9/1. Met in the neck muscle removed 9/30. Large mass in sublumbar lymph node 10/2. Rescue chemo with ifosfamide 10/6. Mets to the rib and axillary lymph node 10/21. Started Leukeran and Pred 10/25. Wookie left this Earth for a far better place on 12/4/12. I miss you, Boo, you were my heart.
I'm with Wookie524, it is time to get a second opinion. When you aren't getting the care you expect or the answers you expect, it is time to find out what someone else has to say. There is no shame in changing vets. It is no different than you changing doctors is you aren't satisfied with the one you see.

5 weeks - that's a lot of laundry and time to worry ): My pup followed a similar course, and had a ton of serosanguinous drainage the first week, then slowly tapered off over the next 2 weeks. By his first chemo, he was still leaking a little on his blankets but it was healed enough to take out the sutures. The whole process took about a month (he was not active at all during that time, but not crated). I hope your vet is right and Lola doesn't have to have another surgery, but a second opinion never hurts if you're not feeling confident with your vet.
There was a great dane here a while back that, if I remember right, had a similar problem. Her wound was continually draining. She was getting some push back from the vet that it would heal in time, but ultimately got them to agree that another surgery was needed to close the wound up.
All the best. Hope you can get some good answers.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
