Hi, Everyone!

Ruby is doing GREAT! We feel like we have our girl back.. and we are Beyond Thrilled!!!

We have hardwood floors throughout our house, and while we have places runners throughout we are still having problems with Ruby slipping! It really breaks my hearts and I am scared she could hurt herself.

Is there anything that is recommended? Any help, tips, info is greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!

-Ruby and Laina

So glad all is going so well for your adorable fur baby!! We used yoga mats in some spots for Lily, in addition to rug runners. They may be a little less slippery-we got them at Ross-really cheap:)

Sending hugs,

Joan and Lily

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.

It was nice chatting with you tonight. Yay Ruby!

As you mentioned, the Toe Grips are one idea so if and when you do try them out we'd love to hear your feedback.

Hi everyone,

I have been reading all of your posts and really appreciate them. Our 8.5 year old chow/shepherd mix named Hero was diagnosed with a mixoid fibro sarcoma two weeks ago and his amputation of his left foreleg is scheduled for Tuesday. I am a wreck! I keep telling him that his leg will be amputated to remove the cancer because he is young and we love him and he has lots of good years left with his family! Hero is such a sweet boy and I am thankful that we can get this treatment to help extend his life.

Like everyone else, I am sick with anticipation about the surgery. Please send good thoughts on Tuesday at 9 am to Hero as he undergoes this amputation surgery! I have found all of your comments and this site very helpful.

Thank you!

So sorry to hear about Hero. My pup Theodore is also a Chow-Shepherd mix and he is 9 years old. They have the same sweet faces! :) Sending all the best to Hero for his surgery! If he's anything like Theo, once the narcotics wear off he will back to his old self AND pain free!!!

Thank you all for the suggestions for a permanent solution to slipping and sliding on the hardwood floors. We went ahead and ordered toe grips and can't wait to try them out. Just measuring her nails for them was a process!! She HATES having her feet touched and she pouted for about 2 hours after I measured (when she pouts she goes into our guest bedroom and will not even respond to us.. moody judy that one is) :)

She is doing so great and we are so happy for her! We are letting her explore the house a little more but she is having a hard time staying on the trail of non-slip surfaces we have. Watching her fall is the worst thing ever!! She fell twice this weekend and didn't cry, and was able to get back to a non-slip area... but watching her struggle even if just for a minute makes me sad.

I have attached a link to a video of our happy, smiling girl on Saturday. She is all about the camera and even turns to smile at the end. So thankful to have our Ruby back! It is amazing that she is already getting around on 3 legs more than she was on 4. I hate she was in so much pain before and know that she happy to not be in pain anymore!

Thank you all!

Heck..I couldn't see the video! I think it's because I have a tablet.

But everytime I see Ruby's avatar picture siling at us...and then hear how well shee doing, it just makes for a delightful day!!!

I know the slipping is really scary. I real k y hope the little booties work. Yeah, I don't know what it is about dogs not liking their paws touched, but all of mine always pulled back if I tried to so much as check between their toes for ticks! I can just imagine how Ruby pouted!!! I know you have to laugh! Sounds like another great video in the making!

Sometimes Jerry works her magic when tablet people can't see videos and makes them somehow magically appear for us! I'll keep checking back!

Hugs to all!

Awww Ruby looks fantastic!

I hope you don't mind but I uploaded your video to our YouTube channel so that Sally and others can see it. You might want to consider starting a YouTube account, that way lots of people can see her videos and progress and be inspired.

Oh and since she hates her feet being touched I do think those Toe Grips might be a good decision for her, can't wait to hear more.

Here's the video:

Ruby's smile makes me smile!

She looks great!  I'm curious about the toe grips, I hope they work for her.
