Rocco had his surgery on Tuesday. It's Thursday and he wont drink anything.
He has eaten here and there - only soft foods.
I've tried adding chicken broth, still wont go for it, ice cream, still wont go for it.
He decided weeks ago that he doesn't like his dry food anymore so putting water in that is not an option because he wont go for it anyways.
We go back to the vet tomorrow to get his fentynol patch removed but its freaking me out that he hasn't had any liquids.
We put a few syringes of water down his throat to give him something, but man he did not like that at all!
Any advice?
Please be sure that any broth you ad has no sodium. Salty broths may turn pets off from drinking the water, and any they do drink can contribute to dehydration. Honest Kitchen broths are best. If Rocco likes ice cubes, that's another way to get water in him.

You can try adding a little water or low sodium broth to what ever food he is eating. Tuna water also works sometimes.
Hopefully since he drank on his own today he is OK, but don't be surprised if it is erratic.

I loved life as a tripawd for over three years following right forelimb amputation due to an aggressive and recurrent hemangiopericytoma. I reclaimed my place among the gods and valkyries in Valhalla on November 11th, 2020. My parents miss me tremendously, but I know they'll keep me in their hearts forever... and don't worry, I've approved my mom's use of my Tripawds account.
