We seem to go one good day, one bumpy day...today is the bump!
During our new routine of heading the grass and rolling on his back to 'show his parts' I immediately noticed redness on his belly and starting up towards his rib cage. This is nowhere near the incision area which by the way, looks fantastic - swelling gone, bruising done!
Nothing new, no need treats, food, same detergent (washing bedding).
I snapped some pictures and emailed to the hospital where I spoke with the head of the ICU department (and was Rodanthe's FANTASTIC recovery doc). At first speak, was concerned it could be platelet related but later, upon seeing the pictures, said a reaction; although admittedly he did not know from what. He did not feel it emergent but would feel better if I did blood work tomorrow.
Anybody else - thoughts, comments?!

Well first off how awesome that his incision area is looking so good! YEAH! Celebrate that victory! Wheeeee! 
That's great your clinic was able to see the photos so quickly. I can't imagine what the rash could be but I think that if Rodanthe is feeling good enough to roll in the grass, it can't be bothering him too much right?
Let us know what the vet visit goes like, we'll be waiting!

Rash wasn't as red this morning; therefore, thinking improvement but after another day of laying around - it is red again this evening.
Sandpiper (not Rodanthe) is eating just fine and if it wasn't pouring rain today, I imagine he would have rolled in the grass again.
Trying not to over react and run him for blood work for a rash (?)....

So it looks like it is on the skin not under the skin?
My first thought if under the skin is the remnants of bruising- I know as my bruises heal they last color left is red.
If it is on the skin could it be a reaction to one of the meds he is on? I don't remember what he is taking.
Another thought is that he may be spending much more time on his tummy than usual as he heals so maybe a reaction that with his normal routine wouldn't happen.
Or are you using a sling at all? Or is he crawling a bit to move around or as he tries to get up?
I'm glad Sandpiper feels good enough to roll in the grass!

Oh my gosh sorry for the mistake. I guess I just love typing 'Rodanthe.' Beautiful name.
How is that rash doing? Did the ER docs get to look at it last night?
